SKI DOO Wheel Part#

i tryed skidoo wheels and broke all the rods in the track be careful with that they hang down to low we compared that to a skidoo skid

Now thats interesting, has anyone found this out? How much bigger are the skidoo or polaris wheels that Yamaha stock ones?

stock are 130mm and ski-doo wheels 135mm, have 1500 mi. on the doo wheels and they are like new and hardly any hyfax wear

It is striking me that the guys who are against this either havent done it or might have it blown out of proportion.

The doo wheels are 4mm bigger, as they only run agaist the track on one side you have to cut that in half. So 2mm is less than 1/10th of an inch.

So what is the differance if you are running stock wheels and your hyfax are worn 1/8 inch, or you are running Doo wheels and your hyfax arent worn at all?

Would you not have the same relationship between hyfax and wheel height in both cases?

I LOVE my spoked plastic Genuine Yamaha ACCESSORY wheels...they are in the 06 and 07 access book....they hold up amazing AND you can buy the rears too, they look nice, and the biggest thing i like is they are SUPER light! compared to stock..

I like those a lot too_Only problem is they are a bit SMALLER than the stock 06 wheels, otherwise my set of 6 would be on my sled rather than hanging on the pegboard in my garage.

Which polaris wheels are you suggesting? Part# or off what model? Thankx guys
Any of the older style poo wheels work fine, they are 5.325 in dia. and bolt right up in place of the yammi ones, just get longer bolts for the two front wheels that mount outside of the rails, and add a washer to space out the block so they are in line with the two behind them on the outside rail.

to go along with what machj said, the bigger wheels also put a lot more stress on the parts of the rear skid they are bolted to,use these big wheels and break the skid and yamaha will say sorry about that,we cant cover that problem

If you start out with new hyfax and let it wear down to where the wheels allow how can this be different from a stock set-up where the hyfax wears down further to where the stock wheels allow? They are both running on hyfax as well as the idler wheels. How in this senario will you have more stress on the rear skid?

I spent over $300 on bogey wheels last winter.

here are my findings.

the stock 06 wheels are closer to 131 MM
the spoked accessory wheels are closer to 129 MM
both are supposed to be 130 MM wheels.

Doo wheel is about 134MM
the pol wheels is closer to 136MM
both are supposed to be 135MM wheels

The Maxx Perf oversized wheels that they sold for years are about 136MM

In my opinion the Pol and Maxx wheels are too big.

But how would the Doo wheels with little hyfax wear, and the Y wheels with 3/16ths hyfax wear be any different?

The wheel is about the same relationship with the bottom of the hyfax.
Is it not?

my original set of wheels 4 of them tore apart, so it killed my hyfax, i went with doo wheels cause i wasn't going to take the chance of it happening again and from what i hear the 07' have the same wheels as the 06'

i hear what you guys are saying but the worn sliders and stock wheels arent hanging below the "plane" of the skid if you take it from the front to the back wheels ,the bigger wheels will be hanging below the "plane"all the time and have even more stress when the sliders wear in,ive run 14000 miles with 2 yamahas in 4 years and never had slider problems and my 06rtx still has all the stock wheels, i have seen a few sleds that have installed the bigger wheels and yes you can roll the track with 2 fingers but they sure put a lot of strain on the skid parts they are bolted to,a guy on here said yamaha didnt warranty his engine bearing failure cause he was running mobil 1 oil,now you can imagine what they will say when the doo wheels break something on the skid from the added stress they put on parts

i hear ya, but i didn't even have 200 miles on my attak and the wheels were toast, i must have had a real bad batch of them, i didn't dare put another set of yamaha ones on, hopefully it was just a fluke

What the heck is the plane of the skid?

The track goes around the hyfax and wheels. If hyfax are 1/8th inch thick amd the wheels hang down about the same touching the track, how is that different than 1/4 inch thick hyfax and a corresponding wheel height?

Plus failures were common on 06 wheels, many many guys used a variety of wheels as replacements including some that were larger. I dont recall any problems with anything breaking other than machz reporting broken cords which is the first I have heard on that one.
