After much research I decided to mount the scratchers on the skis. The problem I am having is that I can't find a long, 10mm metric grade 8 bolt which will go through the ski & be long enough to accommodate the scratcher. A 7/16th's bolt is just a hair narrower than the stock ski bolt & it is a little sloppy in the bushing.
To do the job properly I need two 8 grade 10mmx160mm bolts but can't find them anywhere.
Any other suggestions on how I should mount these to the skis?

I think I used an upper A Arm bolt from a Vector.

There is no Fastal place near my neck of the woods but sk-rx1 gave me an idea. The upper, outer A-arm bolt is the same diameter as the ski one & is just over an inch longer. I took it out & tried it on the ski but I wont be able to tighten the lock nut to the ski as the thread-less part of the bolt sticks past the ski. I wanted to tighten the locknut on the ski bolt, then re-thread the threaded bushing that was supplied with the RSI scratchers to fit the metric bolt & install that at the end of the ski bolt. The bushing has an end on it that holds the spring on & can be tightened at this end as well.APEX 06 said:Fastal is where I got them for my dki.
Could maybe make a bushing for the spring then just use one nut at the end of the ski bolt?

Pretty much what I did but the bushing came with the scratcher and was aluminum. I just tightening the whole assembly against the bushings and washers. The only issue I had was the spring pressure when stored was putting a wave in the ski. Would like to try the TRIC scratchers, or maybe just the new slides and they won't be needed?

I like the modified to fit over existing ski nut Teflon bushing idea!! That way you can leave that nut as is & just go over it, cool!! lol
Thanks a lot for all the great ideas!!

After much pondering of the different ways to mount the scratchers to the skis, I opted to make my own aluminum bracket & attached it using the stock ski bolt then mounted the scratcher above the ski bolt.
Can't wait to try it out.....er, gonna have to wait because we don't have snow here yet!!!

Agree, very nice job, both fab and the idea. Best solution I've seen. I had a pretty good solution mounted on ski bolt but the short piece of the spring was actually deforming the ski.
Agreed ,, nice work !
I made up a set last year
Worked awesome for low snow conditions . Once the Excell wheels showed up and the snow kept falling I took them off. Here's a little vid

Ranger Can you tell me the overall dims of your plates. I think I will order a set and make me up some plates. I have USI skis but the idea will be the same. Did you have to bend the springs to make them latch on the skiis? Thanks
