Hey guys been reading a lot of ski posts over the years and what do you know I happen to try out a bunch of different ones. Since they are scattered over 3 different sleds it may not be 100% accurate but I tried to keep notes of what changed on each particular sled each time. Also each ski was run with Brand new carbides. Here goes:
C&A razors on my old viper - Shimmed 1/4" shim from bergstrom 6" triple points, toe out 1/8"
-Completely eliminated darting
-Steering easier then stock with 6" carbides
-Floatation little better then stock but mostly I would say equal
-Corners like crazy, I mean crazy bite in the corners never felt G's like on these skis on this sled
Simmons Gen 1 on my RX1 with apex GT front end, ZX2 rear, 6" triple point on in side stock simmons 4" on out side, toe set to 0
-Flotation, not good at all was disappointed in this after reading all the reviews how good they were
-Eliminated all darting with nylatron bushings in front end
-cornered very fast, well controlled
-Stability, really helped the inside ski lift not sure if it was the outside carbide giving a slightly wider stance or not
-Steering - HARD it was not power steering like they advertise it was a workout but I liked that after drinking the night before needed some exercise
-The flex giving additional suspension is a gimmick
Slydog Powder hounds on apex GT, with 6" shaper bars, ski savers, tow 0-1/8" In
-Dart very little with no shim after front end bushings were replaced with oillites
-Steering is EASY probably the easiest in the group
-Flotation is GREAT much better fron end pops on snow better then any other ski
-Corners hard in the hardpack, pushes slightly in looser snow, corners almost too HARD in powder my god you need to be on your game in the deep stuff, the keel hooks and it goes where you point it.
-Stability I have a titch more ski lift in "oh sh**" situations then I did with the simmons
-Light weight these babies are light!
Stock skis with 6" woodies dualies, toe set to 1/8" out, no shim
-Very little if any darting
-push in corners on icy or loose snow, in packed hard snow they corner better
-easy steering not as easy as the slydogs
-robbed 4mph from top end
So there ya go hope this helps people make a decsion. I would love to try the curves but overall I cant find a reason to ditch my slydogs now.

UPDATE:
Got a full season on the slydogs and must say I like them alot! I do have a embarassing correction though when I bought my sled used the slydogs were on it and for some reason I dont know how I got it in my head they were powderhounds just because they looked wide and I swore I read on them that they were. Well I bought a set of WHITE powderhouds to replace my black ones and go with the new theme of the sled and I look them over and was like WOW I must have gotten the new 8" wide new ones (I bought these powderhouds used)! So I bust out the tape and DOH! My old ones are 6" aka TRAIL ski and the new ones are 7" AKA powderhounds!
Ok idiot aside my review from the top still stands, even the trail ski float better then any other ski I have on a yamaha 4 stroke. Keep in mind I'm a trail rider and ditchbanger so my 'float' is probably different then a mountain rider so take it in the context it was said in.
I am REALLY excited to actually try REAL powderhounds this year LOL
I am going to run 6" shaper bars and ski savers just like I did on the trail ski and see if there is any difference. There should be NONE because the keels are the exact same (I measured this time LOL).
Overall I'm please with slydogs and will run them till something else comes along for me to test.

Great reviews.
So if i understand correctly, the slydog's trail ski is that you where reviewing in your first post not the Powder hounds. This is defanitly making me think about the Slydog's trail ski. I dont need the Powder hounds but i do need better than stock. If they helped float your apex better im sure they will float my phazer .
Thanks!

If you're content with the trail ski's width, then I'd suggest getting their race version, same ski, but thicker deck, more durable. The trail ski is quite flimsy.

Anyone know how the powder hounds work on trail. I am usually 80 percent on trail and 20 off.

I have them on my 144'd Attak. Rode it 2 seasons with stock track length and a 1.25 Predator. Now running a 144x1.5 Crossover. IMHO, it's a great ski. Tracks well when setup properly, lighter than C&A I have on my Viper. Some SLIGHT push at high speed. I think this is due to my setup and track length. Offtrail they float and carve very well. Some state that they are too flexible. The tip, from the end of the stiffener rib forward, does flex. This allows the ski to climb up and over LOTS of things lol. Logs, rocks, ice chunks.... you get the picture. 4th season on them and I still like them

Yeah, the Slydogs are definitely flexible. I have a sled cover that slip over the skis. When I had my Slydogs, when I'd take the cover off, the ski tips were pointing inwards, pigeon-toed in fact. It looked weird and caused some squirelly behaviour starting off due to it being toed in, but afterwards would square up.
