Hey guys been reading a lot of ski posts over the years and what do you know I happen to try out a bunch of different ones. Since they are scattered over 3 different sleds it may not be 100% accurate but I tried to keep notes of what changed on each particular sled each time. Also each ski was run with Brand new carbides. Here goes:
C&A razors on my old viper - Shimmed 1/4" shim from bergstrom 6" triple points, toe out 1/8"
-Completely eliminated darting
-Steering easier then stock with 6" carbides
-Floatation little better then stock but mostly I would say equal
-Corners like crazy, I mean crazy bite in the corners never felt G's like on these skis on this sled
Simmons Gen 1 on my RX1 with apex GT front end, ZX2 rear, 6" triple point on in side stock simmons 4" on out side, toe set to 0
-Flotation, not good at all was disappointed in this after reading all the reviews how good they were
-Eliminated all darting with nylatron bushings in front end
-cornered very fast, well controlled
-Stability, really helped the inside ski lift not sure if it was the outside carbide giving a slightly wider stance or not
-Steering - HARD it was not power steering like they advertise it was a workout but I liked that after drinking the night before needed some exercise
-The flex giving additional suspension is a gimmick
Slydog Powder hounds on apex GT, with 6" shaper bars, ski savers, tow 0-1/8" In
-Dart very little with no shim after front end bushings were replaced with oillites
-Steering is EASY probably the easiest in the group
-Flotation is GREAT much better fron end pops on snow better then any other ski
-Corners hard in the hardpack, pushes slightly in looser snow, corners almost too HARD in powder my god you need to be on your game in the deep stuff, the keel hooks and it goes where you point it.
-Stability I have a titch more ski lift in "oh sh**" situations then I did with the simmons
-Light weight these babies are light!
Stock skis with 6" woodies dualies, toe set to 1/8" out, no shim
-Very little if any darting
-push in corners on icy or loose snow, in packed hard snow they corner better
-easy steering not as easy as the slydogs
-robbed 4mph from top end
So there ya go hope this helps people make a decsion. I would love to try the curves but overall I cant find a reason to ditch my slydogs now.
