Pulled out because it wasn't crimped right the 1st time or pulled the whole thing out and made the hole bigger ?

Really; I've never had that happen yet, I've seen ones that were not crimped down enough on the install and popped out, just put a new one in and set it.

yeah, mine kept popping out ,so i went the hardward store and bought this rubber stem that goes in the hole and when you tight the screw it expands to hold it on haven't had a problem in a few years now

Run a bolt into an old one to expand it more. they will hold then

So don't use the stock screws afterwards?

say the wind shield has rubber wellnuts and look like the bolt size be an 8mm or 10 and would those work for the skid plate ?

The problem is that the rivnuts that come with the skid are not long enough. If you do a search there are some posts from guys that found some that were slightly longer that worked better. I solved my problem using these in rubber. I got these from Piston Ring but I see they also have them at Rona. Hasn't come loose since. I also had to get new screws as well.

Do a search for "skid plate rivnut install" or you can find the same thing in FAQ, eight lines down, called "Skid plate mounting problems, rivnuts pulling through". The problem was that the kit that came with the skid plate contained aluminum rivnuts that were 14.73 mm long and in order to work properly in that thickness metal, the 17.27 mm long rivnut is a better choice. If the dealer installed it, it may be easier to give him the info and tell him to order the longer rivnuts and fix it. Remember, different manufacturers make different diameter rivnuts, so now that you have the hole already, you have to get the right ones.

I just used some stainless 5/16" self tappers, they are doing just fine. I used 4 ,one in each corner.

If the rivnut that popped out will fit back into the hole. Get the special tool that comes with the plate (dealer should have given it to you) and re torque it. I did mine myself and I had one pop out because I didn't pinch it enough. It took a lot of torque but it did compress the rivnut and has stayed in place since.
