SKID PLATES

Maybe if a person ran the yamaha skid plate without the stock sump cover the ice wouldnt have anything to push against. Anybody done this??

Snow gets stuck in other places. Crummy design and fastening. Something better coming out soon.

So I guess this is the question: those of you who have skid plates and not had major problems, are you sleds kept in heated areas, or cold ones? I dont' have access to a heated area to keep my sled in, so I'm trying to figure out if I'd be better off with a skid plate or a float plate.

That's the second time you've said this. Do you have any more hints that just saying it as to what you are talking about or how it is you know about it?

For added protection I plan on taking the stock sump cover and adding an additional aluminum support between the two existing supports. Its not as good as a skid plate but it will have to do for now.

Has anyone had this experience? I ordered the skid and A-arm protectors, the quality sucks! The trimming of the front point is not symmetrical. The molding on the A-arm protectors was uneven and full of blems. I sent the A-arms back for a differant set and was told the new set that came in were no better. What happened to Yams usual good fit and finish?

Well, yes.
When i got the skidplate i thougt ive got a 2:nd-class item, as in: something the factory would throw away in the thrashcan.
"Is this supposed to be Yamaha OEM?" was my first thougt.
It would have been ok if i had purchased it online right from China for a pricetag like 50$+shipping. But to be bought at Yamaha for ~200$...not very impressed so to say.
