Skis

Reading through here I noticed some concern regarding skis. So I am think about changing out my skis out on my xtx. Looking at the 5.7 are there different types of the 5.7 skis and which one would you guys suggest and also what hardware do I need? Thanks

I put 6.9 pilots on. I ordered the ones for a 2009 summit and ordered zx chassis rubbers. You then need to order carbides, grab bars and nuts & bolts for grab bars. I put 6 shapers in the middle and stock 4" on the outside.
I found I was wearing the carbide in front more than the back so I trimmed the V shape of the spindle in the front of the rubber only trying to push down on the back of the ski. If this doesn't work I will shim the back side of the rubber.

cant you use the grab bars off the yammie skies on the pilots?

i believe the yammie grad bars are too wide/thick. I have heard good things about Slydog skis, I am considering a set of powderhounds in the future..

Yes you can use the yami grab bars with just a little trimming but, what are you going to do if you ever sell the sled??? I would prefer to be able to throw the stock ski's back on and keep my pilots for my next yami with bad ski's.
