Err - 01
Then cylcles to Code 46.
Clicking behind battery, seems to be 3rd or 4th relay.
Then I boosted the sled, started and ran good for about a minute.
Then it idled down to almost stalling and caught itself.
I put the booster cables back on and it ran fine
Headlight was brighter when I put the cables back on as well.
Then I drove it into the shop where it barely ran and stalled.
The display was blinking along with some lights (red and yellow)
Also the temp symbol and engine symbol were on.
I checked through the wiring and noticed that yellow plug near the fan (thread I found on here) and its fine with nothing plugged into it.
Problem started out of the blue, started and played with the sled twice within an hour no problem.
I'm new to sledding and just purchased the unit a month ago. Been rock solid so far.
It's a 2007, updated, Phazer FX.
Just by hearing it run I can tell there is an electrical issue somewhere. Code 46 indicated voltage issue to the fuel pump. "malfunction in the charging system"
ANY help would be appreciated !!!

Try the voltage regulator. unplug one of the plugs(not sure which one) and see if the syptoms change with erorrs on display.

If it worked with the booster on, could it be as simple as a bad battery?

I'm at that point now of checking all connections. All good.
I'm currently charging the battery.
Now if I boost the sled, with no battery is it like a car when you pull the battery clamps off and it stays running, the charging system is good??
Im curious because the sled was running sputtering off and on when I pulled it in the shop after boosting it last nite. If the charging system was working wouldn't it stay running strong??

Well I charged the battery and nothing. I have a voltmeter but a crappy one.
So when I bought the sled, It came with a good spare.
1st I tried the battery out of the 500ss and voala, started and ran great. Code went away
Then I took the positive cable off. Dash lights flickering, code 46 again and started sputtering. Put the cable back on and ran like a charm.
So I've put the spare battery in after that and it started and ran no problem. Starter seemed to turn stronger than when I was out riding yesterday....So that kinda puts me at ease that it was only a battery problem.
The only question I have left is:
When you pull the positive cable off while running, why does it start to act up. Is that indicating a stator problem??
Am I going to get down the road and when the battery drains i'm dead on the trail?? I hate heading out with a group and not knowing the reliability of the issue i'm having and putting out the ride having to get towed back.
Thanks to you who posted
Any additional input would be greatly appreciated

Disconnecting the battery while it's running is a bad idea. The electrical system uses the battery as part of the overall regulating system, which will either give low voltage to the ECU or too high which could burn everything out. When you disconnect the battery, the voltage regulator may think that the battery is dead and is sending almost all available power there.
From what you describe, sounds like the first battery is bad since it seems to work fine with the spare. To confirm if the stator and voltage regulator are working, get yourself a cheap digital voltmeter. Using the good battery in the sled, check the voltage before starting it. Should be between 12-13V. Start the sled. Check the voltage at the battery again, it should be higher than the first reading, probably between 13-14V because it has to recharge the battery from the startup. If the voltage is lower, then the voltage regulator or stator is bad and the sled is just running on battery power and will eventually die.

Excellent advise guys!! Thanks a bunch.
Just got off the phone with a Sponsor of mine.
Definately a bad battery. Common with jumping and it being a "Trans-canada battery" He says those aren't very good batteries.
I've checked the voltage and at idle it runs around 8 volts. Which according to my sled mechanic buddy that's correct for the Phazers.
When I idle up, the voltage rises to approx 13 volts. That's when the warmers heat up and the battery actually charges.
He also said, without a healthy battery the ecu and other electrical devices rely on that steady voltage as moosman indicated to run stable.
So I thank you all for your help and setting my mind as ease going for a rip today!!
