- 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 SE with a 270 hp MCX Turbo and assorted goodies!
This is a 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 with a 270 hp MCXpress Turbo installed.
I ended up being towed out today. Sled wouldn't start and run. Temp was high 20's and elevation was roughly 5500 feet.
Well, it would start, but it would only barely idle and pretty rough and always stall out. No smoke, no fuel exiting exhaust. Sounded like it was lean and sucking air through the turbo intake, just at an idle. If you tried to move it would die. The radiator fan was running, but not warm enough to kick the light on, and I don't think it was hot, plenty of cooling snow and temp was in
the high 20's.
It was after a couple hours of riding on and off trail. We just got back on the trail. Turned the sled off. Turbo sounded like it was still spinning. Didn't think much of it..... Talked for a minute or two, when I went to start it, the fuel pump sounded louder than normal (MCXpress Fuel Pump), almost like it was sucking air. I could hear the fuel pump running over the noice of the sled
running. But it was still running and driving at this point. We stopped a few minutes later. This time the pump was equally loud, but it would not idle. I got it to move once, but it was obviously starving for fuel and surging. Then it wouldn't even fire up again. I towed it about 20 miles out. When I got to the trailer, it started and idled like normal. I did not try to ride it any where, just headed home.
Anyone know the smoking gun?
