What, if any is the difference between the stock slides and the wide slides that are offered in the book, other than they are wider. Can you pull the wide slides through the track windows? Is there any benefit of the wide slides? Thanks

In theory the wider slides should last longer due to the greater surface area in contact with the clips. But given all the variables affecting this, I doubt longer wear is really a viable selling point.
I've been using the wide "high performance" slides from Yamaha with good results - 2300 miles this season. They're only a few dollars more and if they really are lasting longer, then it's a bargain.
Some people are able to pull these out through a track window but I don't have that level of patience. I pull the skid and still use colorful language while coaxing the slides off the rails.
