Can someone tell me the difference between wide slides and regular slides? They sell both on the yamaha accesories page. I'm looking at the hi performance side slides, my skid has extra wheels, and previous owner said he had no issues with slide wear. but knew about the wear issues on some as his buddy's xtx eats slides/
Thanks.
Thanks.

if u have the upgraded wheel kit and not the shitty little ones that yamaha sells for ppl to put at the front of the rails then you shoudl be good. either the excell 6 or 8 wheel kit depending if you have 121 or 144 skid. the slides have like 7-8mm of wear before they are getting low. most ppl seemed to observe they would wear about 50% of the way fast and then stay that way for a long time. the larger dia wheels push the track down 2.5mm more so the first mm or 2 might wear fast but then should be good to go for a long time. thats at least from what i read and im sticking to it.
the wide vs normal i think is the phazers use the narrow and others use the wide but idk for sure on that.

IMO du pont slides are a band aid to the issue. Larger diameter wheels are the solution. My sled has 2 extra wheels near the back of the skid on the inside of the rails, they are full size in diameter, not the marginal snow wheel kit yammie sells. I am going to get my digital calipers out and check the wheel diameters.
So back to my original question, I want wide slides?

yeah wide slides is what i put on my sled. or atleast thats what i think i was sold. same as the ones i took off.... they should be 5mm larger in diameter than the stock ones. prob more since the stock ones will have more wear.

Rec Supply and Royal now carry a larger diameter wheel , 135mm and look very similar to the rear spoke wheel. Get those and it will solve the problem. We just ran the 4 outside wheels and did not change the 2 inner wheels on out MTX's with the float suspension. Not seeing any abnormal wear on the inside of the slides so all must be fine. Just try your sled with new sliders and you can spin your idlers around with the track on the ground, doesn't happen with the larger wheels. People have been putting Polaris and ski doo wheels on Yamaha sleds since Christ was a baby. For the life of me I can't figure out why Yamaha doesn't make the change.
The wife's sled just runs the cheap graphite sliders, can't get the DuPont magical sliders to fit a MTX, they only fit the 144" and shorter. I have to get the white sliders from Yamaha because the graphite's are 2" to short for the 162. We both put 1000 miles on last year riding trail and off trail and I see no reason why they won't last another 1000 or 2000 miles. .
I heard a sales guy at a dealership tell a guy to get the Dupont sliders they will last you a lifetime. Pretty confident for something that has only been out for a year or 2.

Are these wheels a direct bolt on?

Yes the wheels are a direct bolt on. Replaceable 6005 bearing . Royal part # 04-4135-20 and Rec 004-4135-20.
Royal has free shipping if the order is over $89 I think.
