Hey guys
Just got a 09 xtx and put the front end up on the jack to see if it had slop and if the bushings need to be replaced. I can't really tell if it does or not. the steering seems to have slop and the ski mounts seem to, is that normal? any tips to figure this out? thanks

Try moving the a arms by hand back if there is slop you need bushings. You the one's from www.ulmerraing.com they last forever. If you put oem on'e back in you will be raplacing them again within 1500 miles usually on the nytros.

Some is normal but I'm sure your bushings are worn as well. The bushings are Bi-metal, that are pressed in to the spindle. You can get them from McMaster Carr or other supply houses for less than Yam's OEM's and the aftermarket ones are a bit longer which should provide more support/wear area. Do a search and it should pop up, if not I have some I can get you the part number. You'll need four total, but may as well order two sets (8) as the shipping is what gets you. The extra weight on the front of these sleds really takes a toll on the wear items. I installed Ulmers A-arm bushings when I first got the sled, almost 7,000 miles later still tight. I did install grease zerks at each pivot but if you just removed and greased each season you'll still be good.

front end
My old girlfreind had a sloppy front end, but i rode her anyway
My xtx with 3 thousand on it needs new bushings, going to probably pick some up from Ulmer at Hay days this fall.

The stock a-arm bushings are plastic and wear out quickly. My dealer custom made a set of oil lite bushings for me in late '07 and they are still tight, close to 4000 miles later. I installed grease zerks before I pressed them in.
The factory lower ball joints are not very durable. There are some aftermarket options available.
The ski bolt bushings get worn and sloppy. Sounds like the aftermarket ones are a better part.
