I have 08 Apex LTX GT 40th (2500 miles) and I blew a belt last weekend, when installing new belt I noticed there was some play in the jackshaft when I rotated the secondary. The chain tensioner is set properly as I immediately thought that the chain was loose. Is this normal? I can turn the secondary about a 16th of a rotation before the drives start to turn, forward and backwards still the same. Whats up. I am 400 miles from a dealer.

ApexDriller. It has to do with the way the bottom (Driven) sprockets engage inside the chaincase. The reverse system requires this setup to work properly and be able to engage the reverse gear. YamerHammer is quite correct.

Times two on "normal" for sleds with Yamaha's reverse system. My 1999 V-Max was my first reverse equipped sled, and I went through the exact worries you're noticing. DON'T tighten the chain more than the good book says to try to eliminate the clutch rotation. Good luck!!

Ok, thanks for all the info, it's only my second Yamaha. 1st one was a bravo (I think '84). This site is very informative and until now (2 years) I have not had to ask any questions.
