Was riding with a 15 MXZ-XRS this weekend... he has 200 miles on his sled and I was getting absolutely killed by it. Dead stop drags he would be 3 sled lengths ahead by 60 mph and continue to pull away up to my top speed up 99 on GPS. Rolling starts from 20 MPH were the same story... it would just walk away from me.

The XRS is bone stock with an unstudded Rip Saw. I have a 1.375" Cobra on an M-20 Airwave suspension. I know that Airwave robs a few MPH on the top end, but I have trouble seeing how it would be making such a big difference in acceleration.

The only description I have after riding the XRS in the trails is "insanely quick." It makes my Apex feel like a tank with a 440!

My Apex has new bearings everywhere in the driveline and skid, clean clutches, new belt, new donuts, and solid compression numbers. The only thing I can think of is the RTX is just geared too low and I am getting massive track spin.

Any other thoughts?

That M-20 combined with the Cobra is killing you. Mine ran 124 MPH (Dreamometer) 11o GPS when it was new. When I sold it with 13K miles on it it would only run 109-110 on the dreamometer. I had a cobra track, extrovert drivers, and pilot skis. Those variables combined with worn parts contributed to a big loss up top IMO.

Also, Skidoo secretly bumped up the power on the 2015 800 ETEC. Everything I've read on HCS and Dootalk is that the 2015 800 ETEC is the strongest version ever.

You are giving up more then 130lbs in weight and @ 15hp.
Your power to weight ratio is 3.9 lbs/hp...the doo power to weight ratio is @ 2.8lbs/hp.
Speed is math and numbers don't lie!
Not to mention the Cobra track and suspension drag disadvantage.

That makes sense when you put it that way. I will say that I much prefer the overall ride of my Apex despite it not being as quick. My Apex feels so much more planted in the corners, soaks up the bumps a little better, and the steering feels effortless after riding the XRS for 5 miles... I couldn't believe how heavy that XRS steering was!

The C.K skid in your RTX is slower than the mono & it doesn't hook up as well either. I replaced the 22t top gear with a 24t, got a bit more top end.

I don't have the CK skid... I am running a TeamFast M-20 Airwave. That skid is unbelievable and if it means losing a few MPH, I am happy to take that trade off. I was just really surprised at the power the 2015 800 E-Tec has... I haven't ever been on a sled that made my Apex feel slow! Not complaining, just sharing what I observed.

OK, I see in the upper post that you changed out the C.K for the team fast. When you said your sled felt like a 440 I thought you meant it was slow, sorry, I guess I must have looked at it the wrong way, lol

It did feel like getting of an Apex and onto a 440! The difference was truly that dramatic. I do realize that trying to compare an 07 Apex to a 15 XRS really isn't fair. They are totally different sleds... both tons of fun though.
