I am wondering what is the Part# of the Ski Saddle to use as I want to use my SLP Powder Pro's on my 2008 Nytro RTX. Are you using the saddles for an Apex?

I contacted SLP and they do not have one- as per Ron.

What are you using??

Thanks

Hello,

I modified the standard apex style saddles that came packaged with the ski's. Some will use them out of the box with no changes. Thing is, it will allow a lot of movement up and down when compared to the stock ski due to the design of the Nytro rubber. If you compare against the stock ski, you can see that the rubber is "captured" front and back which keeps the ski from flexing at extreme angles. The SLP apex mount doesn't do this. Personally I think it could be a safety factor, if the ski drops too quickly at a sharp angle it could catch the ski. I'm pretty sure there are some on this site that have used them with no problems so it's probably more personal preference. Also over time it will probably stretch the rubber. These ski rubbers are about $30/ piece.

All my modifications included was the addition of 2 aluminum angle brackets to keep the rubber and ski from flexing back and forth too much. This is temporary as I have in the works a set of billet aluminum brackets that not only bolt on directly in place, but should weigh slightly less than the SLP bracket and quite a bit less than the modified SLP bracket. If my weight measurement are correct, the Powder Pro w/ billet bracket & 6" x 60 SLP carbides only weigh about 1lb. more than the stock ski with 7.5" Shapers. Hopefully I will have them completely done soon and can post a picture of them on my `09 XTX. I had to put the project on hold for now until I got some other things taken care of.

Hope this helps.

Nate
