I am looking at installing a bigger set of wheels to prevent wear. I am looking at Excell 121 kit for 225$ or 4 slydog for 200$ I know that Excell is a great kit but I would like to know what you think, experience of the slydog? I like their look a lot. Is the fan effect a joke or is it fonctional? Do I need a mounting kit or is it a straight installation?

i belive they are both a strait bolt on. And they are the same size. slydogs look cooler in my opinion with the right color scheme.

the slydogs look cool, however they have no rubber on them. not really a fan of that after a similar design on the phazer flatspoted BAD.
rubber helps to force it to turn instead of freezup.
granted they were not slydogs, they were stock yamaha but plastic on rubber doesnt get the traction of rubber on rubber. also the rubber helps save the wheel from pics. plastic is gonna get eaten up

You can't run slydog wheels where you have studs. I tried it. Ruined them almost instantly.
Also, slydog wheels do not have the narrow 6005 bearing. The Excell wheels do.
I would buy the excell wheels. Narrower bearing will keep the wheel closer to the rail, creating less stress. And you can mount them on the inside with no modifications needed. Plus they have rubber, so you can run them on studs.
Does the "fan" thingy work? I dunno, but it can't hurt.

What bearings did you put in them? Does a regular 6205 bearing fit or do you have to get some of those fancy ones that they come with?
Thanks
