Sno Cross

Robbie took dead last in the final. Keep on trying yamaha we are gaining each race.
Hibbert won pro stock and tj gulla won pro open. I dont think morgan made it into the top 3 in pro stock and he didnt even qualify for pro open.

WPSA has 2 - 3 more pictures. Here's 1.

Well welterracer – it’s most likely – a doo skid under there or very similar design. Most manufacturers have the same basic design with slight angle changes. For racing - it’s funny how the old basic design works still. Polaris has a little different front arm angle – probably offers more bite on the start but reduces steering. On heavy deep rutted tracks – that might be best. Doo has some refinements to drop the skis under power – after the start.

In my opinion, based on my past experience with Yamaha – the package they have to race with, can win. I wonder who is running the show on the team? Is one group insisting on one specific setup? :o|

This pretty well nullifies the theory that it’s 80% driver that wins in snocross. I’m not going to debate this statement – but Yamaha does have a clutch issue they don’t seem to be aware of – so I think one part of the package – the clutch is kind of packing up – hot belt if history repeats itself. You can tell by the rooster tail the thing may be geared high. Even in stock form..which I’m almost certain it still is – it has more HP than anybody with the addition of a race pipe and jetting or FI whichever they have.

How much real depth is on that team? Robby is a top notch driver – does he have any depth. The principals of the team are famous drag racers – contrary to popular belief – snocross is not a series of short drag races. How much depth do the tuners have?

Don’t forget – clutching a 4/ for very competitive snocross has never really be done before. They need to dump all past applications and get their s..t together!

Winning – means everything has to work..not just the skid or engine –you need a balanced package. I have never seen videos of more than a few seconds of the Yamaha running – but that would be real interesting to see.

After my varied synopsis ….if anyone offered me any sled to race in snocross – I would choose the Yamaha. That is the package – they just need to get it done.

Lets give them some time here. Robbie admits himself this is a R&D year, and thats what he signed on for. It says alot about him to sign with Yamaha knowing full well he wouldnt have a sled that was ready to race. The one thing really cool here is the trail sleds of tomorrow are being R&Ded today on the racetrack. Look back just 2 short years ago, the Polaris IQ was on the racertrack feeling some of the same growing pains the Yamaha is today. The one think I will say is that when Yamaha puts there efforts into something, its all or nothing, so expect this program to do nothing but be successfull. The really exciting part is knowing whats coming for us consumers...BBY

Talked to my Buddy at the track and he said Robbie was looking good but got a bad start and was in 5th place. Robbie overjumped a double and cased it on the next jump which bent his bars down and he had DNF. That is too bad but at least he did not get hurt. There is another full schedule of racing again today with heats tarting this morning and I think the main will be at 3:00. If I hear anything I will let you know. Go Yamaha!

Just got the call Robbie got 2nd in his first heat! He beat Blair Morgan! Heat 2 he was 4th and in heat 3 he was 3rd. So it looks like the new sled is really working. Keep in mind this is one of the deepes most competitive fields that has raced WPSA in years and Yamaha is in the hunt. Not sure yet but Robbie should be in the main with those results.

Yuji got run off the track and had a bad finish. My buddy said there was a great heat race on friday with Yuji, Tucker, Blair, and Ross Maritn in one of them Yuji fought it out with Blair but ened up 5th.

3:00 is the final, good luck Robbie... :yam:

Well considering a 6-1-4 heat placement got him in the first final; a 2-4-3 placement in today's heats should get a start in today's final.

I also looked at the overall standings and Robbie is 14th of 35 racers with p oints in the Pro Open. He has 75 points vs. T.J Gulla's 1st with 126 points after 3 races. If Blair didn't qualify for today's final; Robbie should move up no less than 1 spot after todays final with a respectable finish. Good luck Robbie.

Jim
