SnowGoer says Nytro faster then Viper

It's not the fact that they're talking "bad" about it...they're not giving feedback on a production model. It reminds me of the 2002 Viper...every rag was saying it was the next best thing (based on prototypes again). I bit on their feedback and bought one...probably the worst sled I've ever owned. Ride was terrible, motor wasn't as strong as advertised, got spanked by 600 Poo's all day long and I think a lot of people were disappointed. I haven't read a pre-season report since. They don't hold any weight. I was amazed how much had changed from the proto's on the floor last spring to what was at Haydays.

Had this LTX up to 88 on the dreamo on a snow covered short pond so I don't know what they are talking about. Sorry to say but the sno-mo mags have and always will be awful and snow goer has to be the worst. :o| We all know there were some proto's that barely ran. The '14's will be runners no worries.

I will be pissed if I trade in my 2013 Vector with EPS and end up with a 80mph sled. I don't need the Apex speed but I do need something close to it and I don't want to be spending $4595 to get that speed.

GEARING, gearing, and did I say gearing? The 2014 M8 comes with 19/50 gears and that top speed would be about right if the Viper they tested had those gears. Without knowing for sure what gears were in that Viper I don't know how any proper assesment can be made. Not to mention track tension, clutches, etc. Cmon guys even the old, old Yamahas did better than 80......wait for a REAL production model.

As a side note snowest had an article about 7 years ago rating the top 10 places to ride in the west, and one of those places I would not go again if you paid me. Take what these rags say with a grain of salt.

My Z1 LXR got to 103mph with less horse power than the Viper and probably more weight.

I find a top end of 80mph for the Viper hard to believe.

Maybe the 2014 Viper will be like the 1982 SXR 500, which I spring checked way back then, and Yamaha never released them to the public, because they could not get them to run and perform the way they wanted. If they can't get them to run right, maybe they will stop production like Yamaha did back in 1982.

Hahahahahahahahahaha, come on with technology today they will have it running and performing just the way they want it and going 100 mph ,if yamaha can't then Arctic Cat will get it running right , they have had some of the fastest running sleds for years ( Arctic Cat that is )

I'm confident that the production models are going to run absolutely great. Think about it...both companies have a lot at stake. If I was AC, I would not want to screw this up. These are gonna be some pretty bulletproof sleds.

The Viper sister unit is runing 21/49 gearing and if I remember right the Nytro was 18/40. Might explain some lower top end speeds....easily fixed of course.

"other Yamacat gear specs"

I did like reading about the northway, my mom & dad had 72 red 440 wide track and a green 340 lose where pretty cool sleds

The LTX I took for a test ride had NO ISSUE cracking 85 indicated in short order and that was on a lake with 4-5" of fresher snow on top of hard pack. It pulled pretty hard to 75-80 before acceleration started falling off. I'm used to acceleration falling off at 60 with my phazer and running my phazer down the lake on the same route only would pull 76-77 indicated @WOT

$12,000 sled better do at least 100mph. The vector will do 98-100mph WOT.
