2012 Summit SP 800r ETEC.
Decided on an 06 RTX with low K, got a good deal, and its in good shape. Needs some additional Cleaning, but over all in good shape and I am happy so far.

First thing I did when I got it home was pull it apart, and go over things, Needed an Oil change was a tad low, and was dark. Changed that to Shell Rotella T 0W40. Also changed the Fluid in Chaincase to Synthetic 75w90. Set
the Fox floats to 50 PSI with front end up.

We are getting some fresh snow now, about 5-6" fell overnight so I took it out for a quick Spin, could things I notice

- First OFF Holy Crap, this thing pulls! Loving it, lifting front ski's happens without even thinking about it.
- Steering is squeaky, are there any grease Nipples for the Steering Column/Bushings on these? If not any suggestions for how to grease it, and get rid of the annoying squeak?
- Darting, seems like it darts pretty bad, still stock Ski's will be looking for some 7" Slydog Powder Hounds, with Studboy deuce caribides
- Hand warmers SUCK, even on Full on a warm enough day I barely felt anything.
- seemed a little unstable in Corners inside ski would lift, Might need to lower the PSI in Front Shocks

Yamaheaters will fix the hand warmers. I can't believe I waited so long to get them for my phazer.

Check the toe out to make sure its good.

Great looking sled and enjoy the snow we are getting!

Snow trackers semi aggressive, bushings in steering column just remove plastics around tank you will see them and oil them up. Mined squeaked too. Not arguing with yamaheaters but you won't notice hand warmers much until you get at trail speed and at 5000rpm or more. You won't feel much out of them ripping around the yard. I did the same thing.

Use some lube oil or light grease on all your steering joints that you can get too, check your tie rods, oil or coat with light grease. also there are grease fittings down in front suspension arms come through the sled where your regulator is, you have to remove the plastic in front ( under the bumper) to access besides the grease fittings on steering ski posts and a arms.
Good luck with your sled and be safe!

Front shock pressure looks about right. The A-arms arm almost parallel to the ground. For the darting you can shim the skis or go with Snowtrackers. The ski lift can be controlled by the transfer rod. Tighten it down closer to min transfer. This should help it corner better and control the ski lift problem.
Grips warmers can be fixed with Yamaheaters or the wiring mod found on this site.
The best way to get rid of the squeaking noise in the steering is to go to each pivot point and take it apart a regrease with a good quality lithium grease.
The pivot closest to your right knee when sitting on the sled was the worst on my sled.

Found that Annoying Squeek!! Was the first Bushing, I put some WD on it and its gone, may come back, but at least I know where it is. Good idea on the Litium grease, and I may tear it down more in the off season and do them all them.

Snowtrackers are deff one option, if I stay with the Stock Ski's I will deff get them, but I'd like some additional Lift in powder, as I often go to my Cottage which there is no groomed trails, and we get 3-4ft of snow up there. I'm sick of always being last and leaving the other guys break trail!!

As for the Handwarmers I took about a 20 min run, hit the OFSC trail and was at cruising speeds, long enough that it should have been warm when on High. I will deff look into the Yamaheaters, I've read alot about them. One thing that makes for a crap day is cold hands!!

I will look into the 13mm Sway bar.

First thing I want to put on, is hand guards and a grab bar, I like the look of the Power Mad ones, then it will either be Snow Trackers or Sly Dogs, and Yama Heaters for sure. Also read about the Silverstars, I Had them in the Old Yamie but the Lights on that one sucked...

Check ALL of your bogey wheels and bearings too! the rear axle wheels STOCK do not have replaceable bearings. also the front A-Arm bushings wear out, lift front of machine off ground and check for play and bushing wear(front bulkhead).replace with Oilite from Ulmer Racing.enjoy

That windshield is the coldest windshield yamaha makes. Get a taller windshield and you might find out the stock grips work fine. Worked for me.

Do your homework before deciding on the 13mm swaybar.

And also check the bearings behind your secondary and your driveshaft and either replace or regrease depeding on conditions?

Congrats on the new sled, and glad to hear you have snow and are getting more, ours is melting fast along the shores of Lake Ontario!! :o|

Check out the skinz gear hand guards, much better than all of the plastic ones that sit out in front of u'r hands IMO. Yamaha also has a set.
