Has anyone experimented with gearing and a speed sheave. I tried gearing my rx-1 down 2 teeth with no significant gains. I was also told the rx likes tall gears. Does the Apex also.

I have just installed mine and have not adjusted my clutching to where i feel it is just right yet,but even with stock clutching it cleaned all of the sheeves out in a short field, maybe 300-400 ft. and i could not even get hooked up,so we added my supertips in and some different helix angles but could not get it past 10,000 in that short of a distance, and not sure if i trust the lake enough to rip it up on there yet.Charged RTX said:Has anyone experimented with gearing and a speed sheave. If you could keep us updated I would really appreciate it. I am thinking of the sheave, ram air and haucks fuel accelerator. Do you plan on gearing down?

How the heck did a speed sheave give you any more bottom end?

I don't know. I think they just allow you to gear down without losing top speed. Or just install it and increase top end if you have the power and conditions.

Who said the sheeve added lower end grunt? All i said was i was not yet set up,but as i stated my primary sheeves were cleaned all the way, which in this short of a distance generally does not do this, but it was not pulling the rpms a have in the past, and i myself i would not gear down on this motor,as i even tried to gear down my rx1 and i did nothing, but waste gas milage.87gtNOS said:mnmsnowbeast said:I have just installed mine and have not adjusted my clutching to where i feel it is just right yet,but even with stock clutching it cleaned all of the sheeves out in a short field, maybe 300-400 ft. and i could not even get hooked up,so we added my supertips in and some different helix angles but could not get it past 10,000 in that short of a distance, and not sure if i trust the lake enough to rip it up on there yet.Charged RTX said:Has anyone experimented with gearing and a speed sheave.
