Hey all. I bought a used 2014 Viper RTX a few weeks ago. I finally got a first ride today. I can't believe how far the speedo is out. With it showing 62 mph its actually doing 86 mph. The previous owner had told me that all updates had been done on it whatever that means. It has just under 1000 miles on it and I know it has never been apart in any way. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If he had the latest flash done to the ECU it may need to be redone. Some of the guys that had the flashes done early last year had to get them redone cause of speedo being off.

Not to be a smart #%& but are you sure it is not set on KM instead of miles?

I believe if it was on KM it would be reading higher than actual MPH not lower.
Right so maybe its on miles instead of KM? OP is Canadian. Bet that is whats wrong stormin normin had a very good suggestion.I believe if it was on KM it would be reading higher than actual MPH not lower.

I bet you need the second 16 reflash! I had mine flashed last year and it's like that. Need to get it to the dealer for update.

On the upside it's showing 30% less mileage than I actually put on!

If it were in Km 62 MPH =100 km and 86 KM= 53 MPH. Seems re-flash is more likely the problem. Not to be a smart #%& but are you sure it is not set on KM instead of miles?

It's definitely reading in MPH as well as the one I'm comparing it to. A reflash sounds like it might be the fix for it.If it were in Km 62 MPH =100 km and 86 KM= 53 MPH. Seems re-flash is more likely the problem.
Thanks.

Is a reflash something that Yamaha will cover or are they going to charge me for it?It's definitely reading in MPH as well as the one I'm comparing it to. A reflash sounds like it might be the fix for it.
Thanks.

This makes perfect sense, the early 16 flash was off approximately 10 mph in the upper digits. If it were in Km 62 MPH =100 km and 86 KM= 53 MPH. Seems re-flash is more likely the problem.

I had this issue, and the reflash fixed. No charge, pretty quick.

The reflash is a free dealer upgrade. It is free so they dont have to replace your starter instead. Due to the hard kickbacks the 14s had. Even if its out of warranty most reputable dealers will take care of it.
