Now if they could make a motor thats strong and dont blow up in a few thousand miles I'd buy one !
I highly doubt you'll get many people to agree with you in that one, as many will attest that Yamaha has the best and most durable motors in the business.
I have also heard it said that Yamaha will admit that they are an engine builder first and sled builder second. I give them nothing but props for doing something "outside the box" like this!
If you read other sites (magazine reports mainly), they will say it was actually Arctic Cat that approached Yamaha years ago wanting their small motors for the 120 sleds, and as the talks evolved, this deal came out of it. I think Cat is more responsible for this deal than Yamaha is, as many already know Cat has been struggling with engine suppliers for a few years. They have some built themselves, I believe the 800 is still a Suzuki motor, and now the Yamaha. I believe this is a way for Yamaha to make use of some shared technology and sell more engines?
From a business standpoint, when things shake out over the next sevearl years, I think Yamaha will be better and stronger than ever.
Like I posted before, there aren't very many of us on this forum that buy any sled and leave it alone, so upgrading in my book is something I look forward to just to make it "my own" anyway? Bring on the goodies!
