Just finished installing a new mcx rear mount on an 06 apex gt and upon first start up, it idles fast enough to slightly engage clutch and when it warms up, it will stall and try and hunt for a steady idle. Only changes were head shim and intake cam sprocket mod. It seems like cam timing may have jumped a tooth because in it's stock form, this sled was smooth when running. Any suggestions?

When reassembling the valve train it's pretty easy to be 1 tooth out. pull the valve cover and post some pics of the marks and also the mark in the crank window.

We had to adjust down the C0 setting on a friends Apex to get the idle fixed, it was too rich down low after the MCXpress turbo install. If I remember it right we went to -10 on the C0 setting, stock would be 0. The C0 is like the pilot circuitry on a carbureted sled. Have you revved the engine, how is throttle response? Have you ran it, does it have power? If it feels as strong as it should then the valves are not the problem.

No, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, because it was running so much different than before. It seems to have no hesistation when accelerating. I will try to get rocker cover off today and post some pics.

I had similar problem.. I had to put my co's at like 24 to get it to idle at like 12.5:1.. could there be something wrong?

I usually set the base CO at about -15 to start on the Apex. Cleans up the bottom end after the head shim goes in.

I would check for the obvious, like vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, any mechanical change that has been performed. If the sled was perfect when stock, then it should idle pretty much the same when the install was performed.

I think you should give your sled to your friend Rob!great white north said:I would check for the obvious, like vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, any mechanical change that has been performed. If the sled was perfect when stock, then it should idle pretty much the same when the install was performed.
