Is anyone having a starter issue with their 2008 Nytro's. Checked all connections, battery fully charged. Dealers to busy before the Holidays, any suggestions? Thank you.

3 bolts sheared off on my one way bearing(starter clutch).

Dealer replaced them under warranty.

check your starter relay first - can you feel it click? does your starter motor spin?

My starter cranked over, but with the sheared bolts, the one way bearing wouldn't lock to crank the engine over.

happens if your sled is cold on starting and back fires while turning it over .. sheared three bolts off mine too ... if you run in really cold weather regularly i recommend the block heater they offer for the sled only had mine back fire one day when it was minus 38-c and i had my sled parked outside a hotel in roseu over night ........ cold weather strating tip .... turn it over one or two times then let it sit for five mins if it doesnt start and repeat .... the heat from turning it over helps never had mine not start for me but that one time it took me ten mins to get it started and i was to aggressive on turning it over for long periods of time and it back fired like bubba after an all you can eat chili night

If the gauges work, and all you hear is a clicking noise but doesn't turn over, then its your relay. Had mine go this fall.

Here it is.

I was up in McBride this past weekend. We rode the first 2 days in -30Cel and under.

My sled took forever to get running. Lots of hard backfires and smoke. I'll definitely look into the block heater.

Do yourself a favour and buy an extra relay. Mine was covered under warranty, no questions asked. I bought a spare for $33CAD tax in, to avoid downtime waiting for parts.

Never had one starter issue with the '08 RTX (40th). Put 2400 miles on it last year before I sold the machine. Started every time for me without any issues. With tempertures in the -20F range for most of our Ontario, CA trip, I had no complaints about the sled other than it's freakin' cold.

If anyone is experiencing starting problems, visit a Yamaha dealer. I am sure the dealer will rectify the problem for you.

Had to replace mine on my Apex for this season. For some reason the plug is one of the few things thats not weathertight, adn the moisture got into the back of the white plug and corroded the wires. This might be a good place for some electrical grease..
