hello everybody i just joined the site and already have a question. i have a gear or somthing slipping in my starter assembly somwhere. i have taken the starter off and the teeth are in great shape so i wanted a picture of the starter assembly before i tear into it. thanks for any help!

ive been all over those oem parts but they havent realy helped me. the starter motor and the recoil starter diagrams dont show where the starter gear hits any other gears in the box.

sounds like the one-bearing on the backside of the flywheel needs to be replaced

where could i find a diagram of that?

can't find a diagrham ,but if you got it apart .the big gear that is on the back side of the flywheel should only free spin on way

i just took it apart and it looks like the teeth on the gear in between the starter and the fly wheel " idle gear assembly maybe" teeth both were getting rounded off on the very edges like they werent ingageing all the way. is there any way the flyweel isnt all the way back or the idle assembly isnt engageing on the rotation and not coming all the way forward?

I added a spacer between outer cover and crankcase which allowd the starter pinion to travel further before the stop. Tooth contact is now about 90%. It's a fault with this model. Otherwise remove the rivets, turn big gear over and re-rivet. That also gives fresh tooth but will chew up again
