My friend is stuck up in maine, sled had dead battery. He put brand new one in went riding, running fine. Out of no were warning light check engine light came on went dead. Battery drained, the new one. Any ideas on what to chheck?? Stator could be draining battery, chewed wires mice, etc..... any similar experiences or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like it may not be charging which could be a number of things such as regulator, stator, wiring. i know there have been problems with the three cylinder stator not sure about the fours. iirc the ignition trigger on the fours is in the stator and have seen posts about them failing. use the search feature i'm sure there are posts with similar problems as he has.

This is my sled we are talking about, what comes up is code 46 , it says power to the FI system is not normal. fail safe action, grip warmer output is off any ideas

Sounds like it's shutting grips off and conserving any power it has to run the EFI. Any aftermarket products on the sled? How many miles? have you peeked at the basics like fuses etc...?

code 46

going to check fuses, wires tomorrow also going to check stator . the only add i have is the 06 bars with the updated pigtail kit and never put it past 4 bars because i was worried about what some say

Sounds like you have a short in the system, draining battery. I would disconnect hand and thumb warmers for starters, but could be anything. Diode in alternator, frayed wire to chassis. etc. With sled off, disconnect neg lead on battery and check for spark on reconnect... if soo you have short somewhere

Big dummy

Thanks for all the replies, problem is solved thanks to allen ulmer he said to check the nose of the sled, sometimes the wires to the voltage regulator get corroded well when i went to check the wires i noticed that both plugs to the voltage regulator were unplugged, so i guess working on it on the off season i must have unplugged them and forgot to plug them back in WHAT A BIG DUMMY thanks to everyone :rocks:

Boy it's nice when it's something that simple! ;)!

Don't feel bad...First ride this year cought a little air and right after I got 2 codes. One for the TORS and one for the speed sensor and the sled would not move because TORS was kicking in.

Looked at the speed sensor and the gear and bolt were gone! Never tightened the nut holding the gear on after packing that bearing. They were both laying under the primary. Put em back on...tightened the damn bolt and off I went. :o|
