We were riding the trails out of Houghton yesterday when the after market tether kill switch on my buddies 08 Nytro fell apart leaving us dead on the trail. We managed to remove it from the sled and got him running again but after stopping for dinner we came out to find his batter was too weak to turn over. We jumped him to get his sled going but as soon as we removed the jumper cables the sled died. It's my understanding that once a sled starts it should be able to stay going without the battery. Any thoughts?

Thats not correct on a sled, you pull the battery once its running and it will die.

Yep, you are correct. We swapped out the battery for a new one the next day and it ran fine for the rest of the trip. Never would have guessed. Thanks for the input. Seems like with snowmobiles your never too old to learn something new.
