Stock 2 Stock Rx-1 or F7

[/quote]5-7 is HUGE when you're trying to chase someone down from behind!

That may be true but.....it is nothing compared to what I gained in the 660 with the gears/136 ripsaw/clutching/suspension. THAT is where it counts!!! Yeah if you want to take a stock sled and run wide open for 3 miles, you might catch them....but who really runs that long? And what would be the point?...To say I beat you at the 3 mile mark?...When you just had you #*$&@ handed to you in the 660?...Cmon LB, you should know stock to stock the 03 would not stand up to the F7...modified its a different story!

03-04 f7 will win but 05 it will be a toss up.

I ride with 2- 05s" they are very fast too... the Snopros are way quicker because of the extra bite from the track...

Who races 660? Its all in the 1/4 mile. They'll get 20-30 feet off the line against me, but I have NEVER been beat by an F7 in 1/4. This here freight train runs them down like they're standing still. Stock gearing, stock intake, very efficient clutching, lots more rubber, NO SPIKES!

BTW: at 5 mph loss in top end, lets say average 2.5 over the whole 1/4 mile and say 12 seconds running time... you loose 44 feet. Thats 4 sled lengths. I know its not exact and there's really more to consider to make the calculation, BUT, it gives you an idea about how top end can really make a difference.

most ice races are 500-660ft but mots lake racing for fun in wi is 660ft to a 1000ft.

You will probably loose, unless he can't hook-up, or you race a mile or more.

:ORC IMO: The biggest misconception everybody has about the RX-1 is that just because it has more cylinders, carbs, and a bigger displacement, it should automatically be the fastet sled on the trail. Don't get me wrong, it is fast, stock, and there are allot of sleds that you will beat with it from a good roll-on, or up high - it's just not the fastest when you limit it to shorter runs.

What really sucks is when you loose to another RX-1. :flag:

LB, I know exactly where you are coming from, but you are talking about your 144" track which is completely different than a stock 03 finger track...which happens to be the sled in question!!! I picked up an insane amount out of the hole when I went to the 136 Ripsaw, now F7's are no big deal...but stock...no chance...thats ALL im saying!

Last race of the season ,the 8oo stock class was 80 snowmobiles, my 2003 rx 1 came first place. With 22/38 gearing ,heavy hitters ,and ECP air kit at 1000 ft .There was about 15 f-7 there that day .When she was stock ,I could not beat a 600 HO .Also as a 1 1/2 poo track .This year a CPR turbo at 16 psi ,let it snow, snow, snow.

BUT, the sled in question is running *LOTS* of studs. Something to note; studs are more effective (less leverage against them so they stand up straight) on a shorter track, so on very hard snow or ice, he should get some really good hookup.

I do agree though, that in any kind of looseness/deep snow, he will be destroyed, both on holeshot AND on topend.

I love you guys and I love the feedback, LB had the right idea on the last one, we already agreed it would be on hardpack best of all three races (hole, role and top end) wins the steak dinner no limit. keep it coming! :rocks:

Man i would say you need to get a H.H. set up from Matt (Speed shop) The gains are night and day over stock! Your friend on the F7 does not need to know this. :) The stock clutching on the 2003 Rx1 is WAY off!

One of the last times I rode last year I ran 3 F7s, 1 twin piped 700 Sabercat and 1 twin piped ZR900. As for the F7s I don't know what year they were or how much was done to them but I had no problem with any of them. I'd say 900 ft or so. That said there is 1 F7 with a female rider weighing around 110lbs that I haven't beat yet in 1500 ft. This year I'm installing a 2000 136" T- cat skid for more transfer. My current set-up has ECP filter kit, Heavy Hitters, Silver CV springs, 136" ripsaw with 168 Studs down the center. 03 gearing.

On glare ice it's the RX-1.
In snow it's the F-7.
Anywhere in between, it's a race.

Focker... you've got HC's - probably slowing you down. You also are geared down - also slowing you down. If you left your clutching and gearing alone, you would hit bigger top end speed and blow by those snopros like they were standing still.
Lazy, I take it you are not too fond of heel clickers? I put them on to bender's advice and haven't totally made my mind up. What's your theory?
