This one worked very well for me, I got the info from blackjohn and I applied it on my 04 Warrior 8)
Primary Clutch: OSO spring, 14.5 mm rollers
Secondary Clutch: Silver Spring @70 degrees, shimmed with 5/16 lock washers.
Engine: 4 TPI valves with 160 main jets, Green Holtzman Springs, NGK CR10EK Spark Plugs
Track: SLP anti-wear pads.
And the parts needed only cost about $200.
Does 04 Warrior have same weights as 03 shorty? I know 03 shorty and 05 shorty have different weights.

I did use these on an old Vmax back in the late 90's quote]
I used 4 low boys! And installed 4 - 160 main jets!
If you go to there web site you can see a picture of them

Highmiler,
I'm not sure about that! blackjohn might know, or you can check it in the Yamaha parts finder!

The 03,04,05 RX-1 and Warrior all use the same weights. The only difference between the RX-1 and Warrior is the secondary spring. The 2003 RX-1 uses 15mm rollers while the 2004-2005 models (Warrior & RX-1) use 15.6mm rollers.

Bob & Black Jack, do you believe the silver secondary is the correct spring for the RX1ER as well as the warrior? Would you start with the same wind angle as with the warrior.
I ordered the OSO and silver springs as well as the 14.5mm rollers. I should have the 5/16 ss washers kicking around.
I am leaving for Central America to hepl a friend cruise a boat back to Florida, then I will have about 3 days home to get this set up in place and do all the sled maintance for 4 sleds. Then I am heading up to Canada for a trail ride from north of Sudbury up to Cochrane and back.
I hope this set up works well, i'll carry the old parts with me just in case. With my stock setup, the engine never has reached 10.000 rpm, just shy.

I believe it will work well on the RX-1 because, if I'm not mistaken blackjohn has applied this to his RX-1 8)

yes this works on an rx 1 as well. sillver secoundary or the dalton black as well. srxspec has it right about the differnt rollers and secoundary springs.

Thanks guys, I'll try this and do the TPI, jetting, and springs for next winter.
I am very happy with the 05 monoshock ride, I am working on the rider forward mods but I will most likly not have them completed till next year. I did the Pioneer Performance wide kit last spring and loved it.
My younger daughter has decided she loves to ride my RX1, so next year I'll be looking for an 03 to make ready for her.
At one point I thought I needed to have an Apex, but now I think it is more important to convert my 3 Vmaxes for my girls to ride. I would like to have all 4 strokes.

Bob what kind of conditions and how long are you racing this mach z. What kinda speeds were you hitting that day on the speedo? What were you turning for RPM. Thanks.

Re: Warrior vs Mach z
The day we raced the temp was about 34 degrees, we where on a long flat straight away about 1 mile long, the trails where soft and slow (warm weather) He weighed 150, I weigh 215, My Warrior is also heavier than his Mach Z. I pulled up along side him at about 30 MPH and challenge him. We both roll it on together and we are dead even up to 100 MPH and then he started gaining mere inches. My RPM was about 10500 and speedo about 115MPH.
He should have obliterated me He has 172 HP with about 100 lbs less total weight and my Warrior in stock form is about 138 HP. So it looks like the changes that where made to this Warrior made a BIG DIFFERENCE

Blackjohn, are you running tpi valves, filters, or stock airbox with this kit?
black john said:just try it. at 1st i was just tell you guys to run the o/s/o primary spring and the three washers. that worked realy well but then i found out that only the 02 rx 1,s came with 15mm rollers all the reat were 16-16.5 so i swithed to 14.5s that worked great. other than runing dolton,s arms, springs, and helx,s this is the secound best set up that i have used. abd the cost is resoable and its all oem parts from your dealer. many users have reported back that they were shocked. at the level of improvement. guys like bob have had he fellows from other camps remane spech less. and hell just try the spring and washers 1st for about 20.00 usd what the hell give it a try it mite make you happy.

Black john, when you say springs, do you mean the Green Holtzman Springs that Bob Miller said he has? Also, would the 4 TPI valves make enough of a difference to move up to 160's as Bob did. Or are you running at a higher elevation. I am at 1500-2000.
