Hey Guys,
Im getting ready to pull my clutch off and send it out for rebuild. Sled has 8,100 miles and still running strong. But while I have the primary off I thought about replacing the stub bearing. Does anyone have link for the steps or know how it is done? Pull the cover off and pull the bearing ? Thank you

Usually that bearing will give 15-20,000km of service. I changed mine at 18k and it was getting dry inside. I kept the sled 3 more winters so it was worth the overhaul and peace of mind.
-undo the four bolts on the assembly housing. Some guys use small pry bars to break the assembly loose from the engine block. In my case that did not work and I fastened my slide hammer puller to the end of the shaft with the clutch bolt and gently coaxed the assembly off the block. a few taps with the slide and it work its way out.
-using a shop press with plates start pressing it apart.
-to get the bearing off the shaft just use some 1/2 plates to sandwich it, cut the rubber seal off if its in the way.
-you will need a new bearing and seal from Yamaha. I wouldn't waste time to find a substitute bearing from another manufacturer. I found they were not rated for the same temperature or rpm the Yamaha koyo was designed for.
-for assembly, place the shaft in the freezer over night and keep the bearing warm - press it all back together.
-for fun, pack the inner part of the stub shaft with grease when you mate it with the engine crank. By default this cut down on a fair bit of the metallic rattling from this engine.
