I'm going to stud my venture, just wondering what is better round or square backers?

I would just put round backers on, that way if the backers rotate when tightening the nuts, you won't have the backers lining up all crooked. It's more of an esthetic thing imo than anything else, as they don't prevent stud pull thru.

I wouldn't stud it...you run the risk of throwing a stud thru the heat exchanger then you are stranded on the trail.
BUT....if you are, use the same brand backers as the stud. Mix n match isn't a good idea. I recommend Woody's Signature Series studs with Woody's round backers.

I ride in northern Wisconsin trails can get icy having a venture without studs and on ice would freak me out, that's a big machine, I didn't know as far as backers if round or square are better?

I have had excellent luck with Woody's round Grand Master backers. Over 10k miles and only one pull thru. That's riding in some fairly less than ideal trail conditions.

To me the main thing is to use the same brand of studs and backers. Don't mix n match. Woody's products always gets my vote and don't understud and don't stud the outside belts.

My vote is round. If a square backer rotates 45 degrees you essentially have a concentrated pressure point to penetrate and tear the track.

Round is the way to go.
