2017 LTX SE.... Whats the longest stud i can safely install with the factory installed short tunnel protectors in the rear of the tunnel? Thanks 8

There is no factory installed protector.
There is an accessory protector offered.
I opted for Ski Doo protectors and am using 1.450 Gold diggers, others are using longer yet.
You have to measure and decide for yourself how much clearance you are comfortable with

Yeah... I meant the short 1 ft long one that the dealer installs for customers who want there track studded....

I didn't care for the exoxy install of the aluminum protectors, that is why I used the plastic aftermarket doo type. They slide right in the slot provided in the heat exchanger. They are available in .750" and 1" heights

I'm running 1.64 hornets/stingers with the rear cooler tunnel protectors with no issues. Keeping track snug to not hit header vent and front cooler. I know some running 1.8xx studs using STM protectors that provide considerably more protection.
