Stud patterns?

Im looking for patterns for my 2012 mp and it's my first time studding a track do I need a guide or can I make my own? I have the studs I just don't want to "f" it up! Lol thanks for the help in advance.

Most would use a template.

Thanks guys! I thought about it and took my time made my own pattern and it turned out awesome. I ended up going with the good old V pattern.
