Hi everyone my name is Rich and this is my first post on this awesome and very informitive site. I was getting ready to order studs for my warrior ( I was going to put in 162 1.325's per this site ) and my local dealer said to hold off because they have 6 machines with the stock ripsaw that basically cut the tunnel in half do to the studs hitting. Probably from the track ballooning at high speeds !! Any thoughts on this problem ?

Hello Rich and welcome,

You might want to recheck with your dealer to find out if he was talking about the warrior. If anything the studs would hit the heat shield and then the exhaust pipes before getting to the tunnel.

Re:studding

Thanks for the reply Dano. Yes, the dealer told me that the warriors were coming back in with the exhaust, tunnels and heat exchangers all tore up! I don't see how this could happen with the tunnel and exchanger protectors in place. They advised not to stud yet until they figure out what the problem is.

Mudmaster: I have two warriors with 1600 and 1800 miles both with 126
1.35 studs and have had no problem. Just keep the track set to Yamaha spec. and you will be ok. I adjusted my tracks at 50 miles again at 200 miles. Since then they stayed properly adjusted.

The slides are still like new.

Sketr2, how do you have so many miles on your warriors so early in the season? Are you running them on a stand? How do you like them?

I have 162 1.370 studs and have 54 miles on the warrior... I have had it up to 100mph twice and the studs have not hit anything!!!

I have however had to adjust the track 3 times so far.... KEEP IT TIGHT

Boston: One of best friends has a place near Ashland. We have been here since the beginning of the month. You know boys have to play. The older the boy the more they have to play just to stay young.

They are the best sleds I have ever had or rode. :D They have so much power that you have to watch the speedo so you stay within your limits. The ride rivals the M10. Believe me on that. :D :D :D I have one with an M10 and one standard.

I have 162, no issues, had it up to 120 mph on Wed.

Just make sure that you have the track tightened properly like some of the other guys have said.

Ditto....track MUST be adjusted TIGHT to keep the studs from hitting...whether you are running a Warrior or an 03' We lose about 1 1/2 inches of tunnel space because of the pipes.

Personally if they ran the pipes along the outside edges of the tunnel things be be much better for studding...

I ran my track pretty loose all year last season b/c I had extroverts. This season I added 96 Roetin 1.180's down the center (they give 1/4" of penetration) and I went back to Yamaha spec for track tightness. Kind of sucks because it defeats about 50% of the reason for going with the extroverts but hey...at least I won't almost break my leg running an icy logging road this season....
