I'm studding my 2011 FX Nytro XTX 15 x 144" track with 1.250 lugs.

When going on the Woody's, Studboy etc. websites they recommend 1.750 studs. In the diagrams provided they illustrate the measurement from tip of stud to tip of lug to be approx. 3/8" yet I've noticed it's more like 7/16" - 1/2" atleast.

What are the pros & cons with this difference?

Becare full. I just studded mine and my research just confused the hell out of me. I went with woodys golddiggers 1.325(recommended by Woodys) they will be 3/8 inch past paddals. Phone them, they are very helpful. I went with 114 studs and love it

This is my argument. When it reads 1.750 this means the total length of the stud so in reality they're recommending the 1.325 which is length installed (confusing at first yes) so technically I have the "right studs" yet I'll be sticking up approx 1/2" from my lugs

I know different stud manufacturers measure studs different. Some will give a measurement of the entire stud from end to end, some will measure the tip to the base of the head, and some will measure the tip to the surface of the track where the backer plate contacts. I have Woody's 1.325 stud in mine with good traction, but would consider 1.425 for more traction on bare ice.

I have 114 1.325 goldigger studs in the center belt of my XTX with their large round aluminum backer. Traction is fine if you aren't drag racing and the rotating weight isn't too high with this stud count.
