I have read that a few people around here recommend using the 1.450" Megabite stud from Woody's. They bite really hard being a little longer with no tear outs.

I plan to do a 3-3-2 pattern of singles, which result in a 152 studs. I mostly trail and lake ride. Stock Ripsaw 1.25" track.

Pattern I plan to copy from someone on here (edit: from sleddingfarmer)...thanks

Can anyone please confirm that these length studs will not hit the exhaust or heat exchanger..(i check my track tension every ride so lets rule that out).
Someone just posted up a thread saying their mack 1.450 were hitting their exhaust. Maybe the woody's are a tad different?

That would have been me. The woodys are not as long as the macks supposedly so guys run them but as normal have to keep the track tight and they are fine. But it's not worth it in my eyes as I was just through it. It sucks buying and restudding the track twice in less 400 miles. And I was constantly worried about hitting the heat exchanger. On the plus side they did hook up like crazy but if you just trail ride the 1.325 are plenty. My .02

I ran 1.450 Woody's on my 09 XTX and didn't have any problems... I am installing them on my 12 XTX, I have about 30 or so in. I am using the new Studboy Superlite Pro Series backers that are .750" tall and just the tip of the stud sticks out. They look mean, very mean! I will get some photos and post as soon as I get them done.

^ Sounds good thanks. Im interested to see your pattern too!

I did 114 on my last sled and am doing the same pattern on this one. It is on the Woody's website, two per bar on an XTX is plenty IMO. With the new backers I think that will hook more then I need. To balance the sled, I did a set of the new tuner ski's with 2" and 4" Carbides.

I had to go snap a photo :bling

I guess with those backers the nut is molded right into them and you spin the entire plastic molding to tighten?

You have to buy a tool to hold the backer and then screw the stud in from the back. If you soak the backers in warm soapy water they go together a lot easier. The allen head is only a 5/32" so on my Snap-On 3/8 "Knuckle Buster" air ratchet it is all it wants to run it in all the way. I think a impact will either snap the bit, round the hole, or strip the backer. It is going to take some time and not all on one night, but it will be worth it. Durability is my only concern with these backers. They look like they are gonna dig!

Interesting how they are installed but look like theyes are going to rip she*t up! That was my first thought is how will they hold up? Hope they do for ya..........keep us posted.....when we get snow.

Just curious as to the original question as well no one has had problems with 1.450s? I thought i saw a thread recently someone causing damage to their front heat exchanger.

They are all installed and yes it sucked! I am going to get ahold of Studboy and give them a few suggestions on there tool. Like I said, I had them in my 09XTX and didn't have any problems. That is why they are going in this one.

Pretty sure no one has had issues with the Woody's 1.450 studs. Different brands have slightly different lengths I suppose.

I am getting the Megabite 1.450's so I should be fine!
