Studding Question

I am studding my 07 Apex GT and it calls for 1.375 studs which I am using and 144 studs total. They stick up about 1/4" above the track lug which I understand is normal. My question is do I need to put any additional tunnel protection on this sled or are the ones that come on the sled enough?

Should be fine, if you run your track loose you may see a few nicks and scratches on the rear cast piece. Other than that it should be fine.

I would reccomend the 1.450 studs. Way better hook up and still does not damage the tunnel

1.450's are the way to go.
I got 144- 1.450 woodys megabites. Hooks like a mother now!
Had 96-1.375's in it, no hook up just spin.
If you don't have em installed, trade em for the longer studs, you wont regret it. Don't want to see you piss yur doh away and be dissapointed after all that work.
Just my 2 cents from experience.

your lugs FOLD a little when your on it,so your 1.375 will be ok,your weight has alot to do with hookin up.if you do alot of dragin with your buds then 1.450 will be the better choice!!

I am satisfied with the performance of the sled with these studs. It hooks up great I was more concerned about damage to the tunnel but sounds like that will not be a problem since most of you guys are running longer studs then I am.

I run 144 of the 1.375" Fast-Trac Top Gun II in an inner V and every other outer pattern. I run a very loose track and I only have a few scratch marks in my muffler bracket.

I will guarantee you that you will gain 3-5 sled lengths out of the hole and accelerate way harder in the middle from switchiong from 1.325 or 1.375 to 1.450, depending on the conditions,,. It's that much of a difference...

Perhaps I will try the longer ones next time since I do spin quite a bit from a dead stop. Maybe then I could beat my buddy's '09 XP 800 when it is not in the shop with a blown motor! LOL!

The problem is that the Fast-Trac Top Gun II studs are so durable that they have always outlasted my length of ownership on my sleds!

I guess that I will have to wait to install the longer ones on my next Yamaha. Perhaps the new turbo or supercharged Apex that I am sure Yamaha is working on. LOL! Maybe even the handwarmers will work by then. LOL!

Your missing out if you wait... But, I get your point.. Always remember this... If Woody's recommends a certain size... Go one size bigger and it always seems to work out.. 1/4" penetration just does not get the job done..

So I guess size does matter!!! My 144 Gold Diggers x 1.325 down the middle just don't do the job that I want.I guess I should have went longer.
