Am considering studding the '09 Vector (121 version) I have no idea what pattern, brand, size, how many studs, etc. Also, are there any other things I need to do or have to worry about if I stud it? Please give me your experiences and suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have 96 up the middle, V pattern, 1.375 Extreme Max w/double backers, tall nuts. Awsome. Factory installed tunnel protectors are more than enough protection even with rear cooler on a 121".

Thought I would rehash this, as I never did stud it. After another winter and experiences wishing I would have, I am looking for more input or if the above suggestion is still the best way to go. Thanks.

I found that a V pattern of 96 in the middle worked well for what I wanted. Helped the back end stay put under braking and confidence when encountering ice.

What brand and size did you go with Steiner? ThanksI found that a V pattern of 96 in the middle worked well for what I wanted. Helped the back end stay put under braking and confidence when encountering ice.

96 or maybe 118 (?) up the middle? One stud per HP is the rule of thumb. I'll let steiner reply with his choice before I mention mine. But if I forget....TALL nuts are a must!

Woody's 1.325 Signature Series with Airlite plastic backers and tall nuts. After 11k miles I had one stud pull out. Change the track because the clips were wearing out.

Much appreciated guys. Thanks for the particulars Steiner. Sounds like up the middle and tall nuts are a must. Geez, that sounded kinda weird. Lol
4sstrokeluvr111 you are probably familiar with this particular sled.

With your sled....I think so?

The only thing I'll counter to what steiner said is to use Woodys backers with the Woody Signature Series Studs. If you remember my red 05, when I bought it from Antigo I gave them the Signature studs (bought them off of ebay if memory serves) and asked them to please get the correct Woodys backers for them.
Unbeknownst to me they used Brand X round backers and within 1000 miles I was getting pullouts. Eventually one went through the front cooler wrecking a trip. I contacted Woodys to complain and the President (Jim something) called me and asked that I send him an example. I did and he called me and said that it wasn't a Woodys round backer that was used with the Signature stud. He showed me via video call how the Woodys round backer pulls up tighter than what Antigo put on.
I was not a stud guy and really didn't know any better. I had used Woody Sig studs and backers on my 03 Polaris 700 with great success so I thought using the same setup would work. But Antigo didn't do their part and the rest is history.
I'm sure there's backers out there that will work fine, but if and when I ever put studs on again, it'll be Woodys studs AND Woodys backers. Why take a chance?
