I am thinking about buying an ice ripper xt track.
I had some issues with studs tearing out on my previous track and damaging my front heat exchanger. holes in the exchanger left me stranded two times.
The ice ripper looks like a possible solution, but i am afraid i won't like it because i am used running studs.
If i dont like it i would be considering studding it.
This track is a new style single ply track and requires the new style studs designed for this track.
If i do need to stud it, i am thinking about studding it with the accord racing big shot studs and accord bull eye backers.
Anyone used this combo with any luck?
Anyone studded one of these tracks with any luck"
has anyone used the bigshot studs and bulleye backers?

I've read somewhere else that there is a warning imprinted directly on the track to NOT install studs. Apparently it's not reinforced enough in the areas that you would normally stud.

If you don't like it, then you probably could take a bit of a loss and sell it used.

You would be better off studding a double ply std. track if you want to stud. The ice ripper is not going to be a drag track or even one that will hook on ice. It is a trail track to give the added traction on an icy corner and provide control on the trail. It is faster on top end buy 5 MPH over a track studded with 144 studs. I love my ice ripper XT. Some of the guys I run with have already pulled all the studs out of their tracks because of pullouts and vibrations induced from studding, not to mention wheels blowing because of rolling over the studs. No more studs for me after running the iceripper XT and witnessing 2 machines with exchanger holes and the coolant flowing freely from the bulkhead.

Thats good news. thanks for the reply.
my concern was that i would not get enough traction. From the sound of it, it seems like you are very happy with the track. i was kind of panicked thinking that i would need to stud this track because i was disappointed with the traction.
Thanks Again
