08 Venture Lite
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on studding the Venture Lite or Multi Purpose, with the single ply track. Seems to me the studs are going to have to be long and with not a lot of track to screw to may create issues. Anyone been there done that? :yam:

Yah, the 1 1/4" track was too high for me to consider studding, and I have been studding for 30+ years. Also, I have seen a lot of ripped 1 1/4" tracks from studs. But, to run w/o something adds risk. I ran the first year w/o them and then changed the track to an Ice Ripper. Tracks only kast about 6K miles for me. Then they start coming apart. So,... Now, I have the Ice Tech, which replaced my first Ice Ripper. These tracks are good compromises, and you never have a stud rip the track up.

Thanks you confirmed what I suspected. My Yamaha dealer mentioned some are studding the Ripsaw with Carbide 1" Lug Screws, again the lug doesn't seem very thick. Looks like pre studded track will be the only option.

Hi, just wondering why the need for studs on the VL?
Have you made any other mods to the VL?

Folks I ride with have studs and stopping power mainly biggest issue. Have added Ice Scratchers which has taken care of Cooling and Slide Wear. Added Wheels to Ski's great for parking lots as well as Yamaha Skins and dual Carbides. Looking forward to snow on the East Coast though probably will have to head West to Logger School Road at this rate.

So, what kind of ice scratcher are you using? Yeah, no snow here either - too bad. I am currently working on an exhaust extension to put the pipe out the rear to see if it reduces the ice formation in the tunnel. will post some pics when done.
all the best, happy new year!

studs

been running 96, 1.5's for the past two years. i mostly need them for climbing steep rocky trails and over logs. they are showing a bit of wear now all are bent several are broken and a few have pulled through the track. this was under extreme usage however. normal usage should last quite well.

Kimpex Foot Board Mounts. You know you have them down from the vibration in your boots. Way I figure it no chance you are going to back up with those puppies. Works really well no heat or wear problems since installing them.
