I plan on running them down the center too. I was thinking about staggering them back and forth slightly.

Studding up center is fine but i would use a stud template for correct position and maxxium scratch lines.

I will run up the center, but I don't think I can go with my first thought of using double backers. can't get a pattern to work out right.........

Sure you can use doubles.but if you want say a 168 pattern you'll also need to use some singles.

Yeah, not sure I want to go with that much rotating mass. Thought about staying with 114 studs. Just enough for a little bite, but not adding that much for weight...

If you want "just enough bite" like you say, then why not swap in an Ice Ripper XT track instead? It's pre-studded, plus there is no worry about pull outs, rips in the track or throwing a stud in the heat exchanger, and it's lighter to boot.

The weight isn't a isssue for performance dont lose sleep over it stud with the right number of studs and enjoy never ending traction.
