Prepping the sled for summer storage, what works good to spray on the engine to protect the aluminum?
Will any silicone spray do the trick?

I use good old fashion armor-all, coat the entire sled.

WD-40............on anything metal, 303 on everything else especially the seat. Stay away from armor-all, it dries the stuff out it's suppose to protect.
Thanks, what about when it comes time to ride, I don't have to remove the wd-40, correct?

Do you spray the rear suspention with WD 40 also? and will it do anything if you get the spray on the belt or rear suspention rubber wheels? just wondering. This is my first time prepping a sled for storage and I want to do it right.
When it's ridetime again next year do you have to do anything to get the WD 40 and 303 off the sled or can you hop on and ride.

Why hose it down with anything? Just put it in a safe dry place. Covering it with slimy oils will make it look dirty and old.
Protect aluminum from corrosion
LB, just looking to keep the aluminum from corroding-as the cylinder head on my sled has that white powdery residue on it from moisture-not that you see it unless you are servicing the sled-just looks bad.
I would agree to have something that doesn't attract dirt.
Will have to read the label on the can of S100 Protective Spray I have at home to see if it is okay for heat as it does get dry to the touch, but protects metal.

Same here the top of my motor looks like crap ( white powdery residue ) since everytime I stop someone wants to look under the hood, it would be nice to see it shine and look good..Have many guys polished there tunnels I was thinking about using Mothers Metal Polish and the power ball, will it work....

Must be something to do with your storage locations and/or trailering it a lot in winter. Mine's still PERFECT having never been covered with anything from 02. I have to wonder if the better solution might be to just wash it with soap and water, dry it off, get it hot, and keep it DRY?
storage
My sled is kept in an enclosed trailer year-round: Wintertime it's outside, summer it is stored in a upper level of a barn-good and dry.
Only time it would get condensation mostly would be from the warming and cooling inside the trailer during the winter.
My previous sleds never got like this-engines went un-coated and looked fine.

mothers mag aluminum polish works awesome on the tunnel. I do both my sleds after I clean them. My tunnels are like mirrors. I store mine in a heated/ cooled garage. No problems. I do, although, keep the skis on dollies and the rear of the sleds on warm up stands. Just want to keep the track off the concrete when it is sitting in one place.

Not sure if it'd be good or not, but CRC 6-56 works great on my JetSki, so I'd think this would be just as good on a sled, too.
