After my first season on the 4 stroke is there anything different to do to it to store it for the summer. I try to get it off of the track and add Stabil. I know a lot of the two strokes say to fog the engine. What are your recomendations for this. I am mainly conerned with the engine. I know about greasing and lubing and the other stuff just curious if you treat the 4 stroke and different then the 2 smoke.

Drain the tank, run sled dry, then remove the carb drains for a day. This lets the fuel vapourize.Pour a spoon full of oil down each cylinder(make sure its four-stroke oil)and crank engine over with the plugs grounded. Then remove the battery under air box, store it in a cool place all summer and give it a charge when it goes below 11.5volts.Anything at 12.8volts or higher is good.I let the sleds track and skis stay on the ground with wood underneth them. You cannot get the rear track off the ground without putting to much weight on the front end over the summer. One idea i had was to put a small milk crate under the skid plate, but i was afraid it would put to much stress on skid plate.

Or, you could do what I do. Put some stabilizer in the fuel and park it in my enclosed trailer under my deck. In the Fall charge the battery use a squirt of charging fluid and start iit up and go.

Put some seafoam in the fuel and run it for a few minutes. I spray the entire sled down with a silicone spray. I put some steel wool in the exhaust tips to keep out mice. Then I open a couple boxes of moth balls and sit around the sled to keep away any insects. It sits in the trailer all summer. Thats it. In the fall, remove the steel wool from exhaust, spray it down. Thats it.

Yeah Indy that's about it for me too. I don't do the moth balls or steel wool, but those are good ideas, I think I might just do that.
Always fog a motor ( two or four stroke ) thats not going to be used in that lenght of time.

I stabil the gas and put a memo on each month of the calender to remind me to start it / this has worked for over thirty years on two and four strokes without nary a problem / later
