I like my set up now and I'm going to stick with it. About 4,700 rpm engagement right now. But these things pull like a freight train. Faster on top than my D&F's.

Curious to know why your Apex is engaging @ 4700 rpms versus others on Nytros claiming 3200. Aren't they the same weight setup?

all you need is a spring with a lower preload or start rate and same finish rate..
what spring you using now..

spring
he is using black from d-flys, hard to find a spring that will work i don't like high engagement, i think it'd 100-400.

Who sells a comparable finish rate spring with a lower beginning rate??? My hc black is brand new and compresses really hard!

rats
mike check with kevin or maybe he will post his setup?
"The Super Rats were very smooth and pulled very hard. With the Super Rats I am engaging just over 3000 RPM. I am using the black heel clicker spring." maybe he is loading up the heel ?

I was way off. sorry guys. Went out yesterday and I am engaging over 4 grand. It is still smother than the D & F weights though.
I am noticing that peak RPMs differ depending on whether it is a dead stop take off or rolling takeoff. On a take off from a dead stop my RPMs are hitting about 10,6. If i hammer it from about 50 they will climb to just under 11.

I might have a set of Rats for sale here shortly.

Re: rats
Your drag & flies were set up for harsh engagement. Adding to the heel lowers & smooths engagement. It also will lower rpm,s a little thru the rest of the entire shift. Woulda been an easy fix on your attak with drag & flies.KevinS said:.Shiek said:mike check with kevin or maybe he will post his setup?

I tried a bunch of different setups. I just couldn't get the RPMs down until I loaded the weights right up. When I sold you those weights you mentioned I probably needed a different primary spring. Any ideas which one? The stock spring?

y-s-y works great with drag n flies in an apex.
I did some testing today.
g-force clutching-stock spring 105mph.
g-force clutching-hc spring 106mph.
super rats-hc spring 3gram ball + 1,5gram pin 106.
super rats-stock spring 3gram ball + 1,5gram pin 104.
super rats-hc spring 3gram ball 106mph.
super rats-stock spring 3gram ball 106mph.
Condictions were not great but as you can tell all the clutching changes made about the same mph, the only diffrence is the super rats pull "ALOT HARDER" then the ones from g-force, my favotite compo was the super rats with stock spring y-s-y it pulled just as good as the hc spring and got the same speed with out the engagement being to high.

Maybe I'll try out the stock y-s-y spring with the Super Rats sometime and see what happens. Did you lose any accelleration speed with y-s-y spring?
Really, the higher engagement isn't that bothersome to me and i don't want to lose any performance. Will it wreck anything keeping it as is/ stress components? Cause any issues any more than usual? Doesn't seem to stress anything, but I thought I'd ask. My belt doesn't squeel or anything, other than when it got wet from melting snow last week in there.

The y-s-y pulled just as hard as the hc spring, I cant see any problems useing the stock one. When I used the stock spring with 3gram ball and 1.5gram pin weight she only pulled 10,000rpm and hit 104mph, mabe a diffrent helix could work I have a 43/39.
