Hey guys, finally got her all back together and some pics.
I tore the whole sled down, changed the oil, the chain case lube, went through the skid, a arms, shocks, all looked good. This sled csme basically new, I was amazed at the great condition, was really turnkey.
But being me, and because we have no snow, a call to Scott @ OFT was in order!
3 new OFT billet steering blocks:
OFT Tether Kit
The Armor Tether
These plastic ski attachments were from Scott Bergstrom and Viper Dave. This was very nice of them. They attach to the sides of the Slydog Powderhounds and provide for greater flotation and side bite when sidehilling.

Hey thanks guys for the kind words. Very much appreciated. Now we just need some descent snow so we can ride. It's bad around her -- no snow. We have a few inches in our yard be we are lucky, a lot don't have any. Just a strange winter, indeed. And on the topic of no snow, I swear, the aftermarket parts guys must love this winter because we all are just jonesing to ride but there's no snow so we're all buying new shiny parts just to be around our sleds.
But one guy who is ahppy about this winter is my little guy. Tyler loves sledding and he loves his little Z120. He is very passionate about it. We don't have alot of snow, and he has the entire yard beat down. I'm pretty sure the grass will be thread bare by next summer, lol! But this is certainly a niche where Yamaha is dropping the ball -- sleds for the little people (and a mid size sled too IMHO). I'd have looked for a Yamaha but they really are not readily available around here, whereas the AC's and Polaris' are.
We picked up Tyler's Z120 a few summers ago at a garage sale for like $900, knowing Tyler would love it. Sometimes he's a bit reckless on it actually, but he's also really good on it, and he gets such a thrill out of it every day. He can't wait for dad to get home from work so we can gear up and ride around the yard. I'll hop on the atv and we'll play follow the leader for an hour or two. It's really amazing to watch him. Btw, he just turned 4 this fall.
To answer Sherlock's question, I think I got a really good deal on it considering the mods on it. Jeff from Skinz came down a tad on his price and also threw in some Skinz goodies. Then I paid about book value for a stock used MTX in average condition. So considering the low miles on the sled, the mods it included, and the really good shape the sled was in I'm really happy.
Btw, my sense is that Skinz had bigger plans for the Apex MTX, but abandoned ship a few years after Yamaha gave up on the sled and discontinued it. Skinz's decision to sell this sled I think shows we won't be seeing any new Apex specific aftermarket parts from them, other than what they market currently. This sled was their Apex part testing "mule" sled so to speak to ensure part fitament, etc. It was also the owner Jeff's personal sled for out west. Now that they have sold it I think it's indicative Skinz has moved on to the Nytro chassis going forward.
I do have to give a thanks to Viper Dave and Scott Bergstrom for sending me the side pieces for the Slydog skis. As soon as we get better snow, the stock MTX skis that are on the sled now are coming off and being sold, and the Slydogs are going on the MTX. So thank you Viper Dave and Scott Bergstrom!!!!!!
So, anyone need a set of Yammi Mountain skis?
