Supercharger help, PLEASE

When you put the sled to bed in the spring of last year was it doing the same thing or did this occur this winter on your first start up.
If it ran fine last season you could probably eliminate the clearance issue, are one of the pulleys slipping on the shaft (keyway or lock come loose)

I do not have a sc on my apex but I have done alot of work with superchargers......I had a kid one day bring me his mustang and it was doing the same thing.....he did the same thing as you guy's did.....started it up with the output tube off and it was blowing......got him to rev it up and wouldn't make boost.....so I took the belt off and the kid didn't put the the key in, so it was just slipping on the shaft when reved up.....I don't know if you are dealing with a spline or a key......the kid though he put it in and it wasn't and that is all it took and boom it made boost so if either one of the pulley's have a key it it just make sure they are both in.

One more thing to look at , are the throttle bodies tight to the motor(not the intercooler) I have seen them blow off at the block itself(overtightening of the clamps)

This is a used kit I bought from fellow TY member last spring. Have video of it working, he lost his oil filter and toasted his motor.
That is how I got it. Pulley and belt all are fine.

The more I think about it, the key in the pully's sound like it could be the issue, if that is the case, brother I owe you a bunch of beers!

Well I hope you don't have the same issue I had. In the pictures below you can see the seals on my SC are shot. I noticed it becasue of the "oil" on the underside of the intercooler. I recieved the SC in this condition, but was told it had similer issues as you have stated, making slow or no boost. I would suggest taking the intercooler off and inspect the sc for leaks, sloppy shaft play etc as others have stated. I would also suggest prior to removing the intercooler do a leak down test of the system, that will identify ANY leaks. Good luck!!!

Thank Ducktape, will check that out, I 14 pound pully's were going to check and maybe switch just to see what kind of air pressure it is pushing. I am going to trt anything before I pull this thing down to ground zero again.

Okay, what in the hell would cause this????

After letting the engine warm up, and after about 40 seconds of burping the
throttle, bang I had boost. It shot over 6 psi, but only lasted for about 12
squeezes on the throttle, and then suddenly dropped to 0... I removed the oil
return line from the tank and observed that to compare with boost. After
fumbling with the throttle some more, i had well over 6 psi of boost for about 5
squeezes of the throttle, and then rite back to 0. It appears that the oil flow
definitely increases while it is creating boost? It makes me wonder, is
something causing an intermittent connection between the blowers drive sprocket
and the oil pump/compressor?

the actual torque transfer in the S/C seems to be directly related to the internal pump in the charger itself, I am going out on a limb and thinking it is a faulty oil circuit in the charger itself. The rotrex oil directly is responsjble for the cooling, lubrication and also torque transfer. Go to Rotrex website and look under technical and it will explain.

i wonder if there could be a "air" bubble in it. Will try it again to night. It is getting oil, however you are right in what it is doing.

Is it possible that your boost gauge is faulty? Just seems weird that for several pops of the throttle you have boost then nothing at all.
Would be nice if it was something simple like that.

No, gage is on, i even checked that many times, it is a charger issue. I am going to dump the oil and filter and see if fresh oil will help.

Like I said I'll try anything at this point.

Darren is no longer there, MPI is on speed deal, I think in the future Matt from there, I'll name my first born after. Boy or Girl.

I am going to try and raise the front of the sled and have the oil res be the highest point to get any "air" out that might be there. I tryed calling Allen U but he is busy just to get his .02 on it.
