Supertrax Article: New Yamaha?!

Power steering has been what my dealer is saying is new for 2011. He also states that Yamaha doesn't really tell them too much. February is coming quick!

Our dealership has yet to see a Power Steering failure/problem on a Grizzly with EPS and we have been selling them since August of 2006. I think it's safe to say the Power Steering system in a snowmobile won't give problems either, they also are not some clunky heavy device. The Power steering unit would fit inside a Pop Can and wieghs just a few pounds.

That's of course if there even is a New Sled with Power Steering coming... LaLaLa

Maybe powersteering is a way to get rid of the sloppy /loose steering in the apex? seems like it would simplify the linkages

Edit: After thinking about it, maybe not. I was thinking of a steer by wire system.

Okay Well all this hype doesn't do anything for me. So what if they come up with a apex XTX BIG DEAL. I want power. Yamaha needs a 170 hp naturally inspired motor, atleast in my opinion. they can probably fit a motor into the apex frame with hardly any weight gain. I said that about their atv's and they didnt have anything for me in 2010, now i have a renegade in my garage.

I noticed in the link posted by fixahonda that the patent for power steering shows it mounted on an Apex. All the drawings are of an Apex, not something new. Maybe they purposely did that so they wouldn't reveal the look of the new sled. If it's just power steering on the Apex, I'll have to pass. I'd like to see a more powerful motor that makes it's peak power at no more than 8K RPM. This would mean no gear reduction and less noise/weight. My Apex is too loud!! I would also like to see a new chassis and a more rider forward design. I wonder what the percieved sense of enhanced traction Super Trax was referring to?

The patent was filed august 6th of 2004. the date of the patent was august of 2006. im thinking thats why it looks like an apex.

While I go for more power the 8,000rpm means a huge increase in cc's or forced air input.

Something in the range of 1,500cc's, but with more weight from a physically larger motor.

I think I would just like to keep the Apex more or less as is. Don't ruin a good thing. Power steering would be nice. Be even better if you could apply it to older sleds.

I'm living in fear that they nytro'ed up an Apex.

I am naturally inspired to make this site the best it can be and look at that... its still needs work... :jump:

After seeing this supertrax article and reading the snowtech future predictions, I have a feeling that it is a new frame, somewhere between the riding position of the nytro and the current apex, new ski, possibly power stearing, maybe a new track "hooks up better then any 21" yamaha" and or like someone already said that crossplane motor with a throttle position chip. I was reading about its somewhere on here before...
