I just got done reading the new Supertrax. They have done a turnaround on their opinions of the Yamaha 4 strokers. Naturally, I love reading stuff about the sled I just bought, but check out some of their comments....."the 05 RX-1 gates like an open mod snocrosser", "the words "Yamaha" and "superb suspension" have not followed each other in this magazine in over a decade. They do now." "Precious few times in the years we've reported on this sport have we seen anything as significant as the new Monoshock RA in the RX-1." "we take back pretty much everything we said about the RX-1 ride quality", "the 05 is a mogul chewing, bump railing, roost throwing riot." "if you were disappointed in the first RX-1's from 03 and 04, you better take a pull on the 2005. There's simply no comparison." "After we rode the RX1 we had to ask ourselves what we could best compare this new skid's ride quality to. Okay, inevitably comparisons with M-10 come to mind." "even an M-10 set up by the Em Meister himself won't and can't allow for pleasing weight transfer and heroic wheelies. Then there's the issue of sucker bumps. With any falling rate design (M-10), square edgers pose a threat. The RX1 can be driven into parking curb sized heaves and simply held wide open". "Yamaha's nailed it with this one. We mean it"
Man, I can't wait to ride this sled!

Supertrax is pure commercial. All that means is that Yamaha paid them more to say good things than the three others paid them to say bad things. Don't put ANY faith into whats written in supertrax, decide for YOURSELF. And please don't take this to mean that I'm putting down the 05 suspension.

Lazy,
Is snowtrax The only magazine we shoudn't put faith in, or is snowgoer , snowmobiler And Snowtech all the same.Or who Ever puts up the most money. If you might have said inquier I might have understood a little more of what you are saying. If you don't have FAITH in these magazines then why do we buy them ? Surly not just to amuse our selves. I believe we (all of us at RX1.Info) don't buy snowmobile magazines to see who's paying the most Money. Do You?

Wolfster you old dog----pun intended. I've heard good things from non mag. guys about the new skid.. Very cool indeed. You are one lucky guy. New bride-new RX1 and old hot dog rev for your wild side. Have a on me and enjoy that c-red beautiful sled. My vector sounds so cool. MM.

Who buys them? They're pure advertising that gets "thrown in" with trail permits... Their advertising revenue pays for them to be given away for free, if they weren't given away for free, then everybody who's NOT dumb enough to PAY TO RECIEVE ADVERTISING would not be recieving them.

LB, this is true of all the snowmobile rags. They are all completely useless in regards to giving truthful reviews in my opinion. The best you can get from them are the facts about the details of the sleds. Comparing them is a joke as there is ALWAYS an agenda.

I have NEVER paid for a snowmobile mag, and yet I have a stack thats enough to fill a bookcase. Darned glossy paper isn't even good enough to start fires.

Yamaha must have "advertised" more this year because Supertrax hated the RX until '05
Hey boys, I was only drinking some of the pr koolaid that we're fed every year about the new sleds, and thought I'd share it with fellow 05 RX1 buyers. I don't subscribe to any of them, anyone who buys a new sled gets them for free anyways. I just thought I'd pass them along, because it's been quite a while (98 SRX to be exact), since any of the mags really glowed about the new Yams like that. They had similar things to say about the Vector. I buy based on what I want in a sled, and this year Yamaha had it. While I'm well aware that the mag writers are in bed with the mfgs., you learn how to read between the lines and find the nuggets of truth in and among the fluff. From everything I've seen (AND READ), the 05's should be pretty damn good sleds. 13-14 pounds less unsprung weight is huge, and you don't have to be an engineer to appreciate that.
