Hey Great guys/girls of this forum question for ya!

I have 2018 Btx, and come from a Skidoo Freeride 154 there are def differences with this current setup from my old..... I feel I'm pretty well setup for running trails hard and I mean this thing screams on trails with rock solid cornering and hardly any push any of which is easily mitigated with throttle!

My set up is this:
2018 BTX SE
Rider weight :225
Groomed trail / rough trail
Extremely aggressive rider
Pressure at 40 deg.

• Front shocks: 90 psi
• Center shock: 1/2" of threads from max preload
• Rear shock: 150 psi
• straps: Loose as they go

Just wondering what you are running for the better transfer and off trail manners.... I get some ski lift but at max it's around 18" maybe if hooking up.... I'm guessing max my center shock and lower the rear shock right? My trouble with this sled I'm finding is it doesn't like to fly through air and it more then anything Is dead in the rear suspension.. it doesn't spring/pop off jumps and I'm sure lowering rear track shock further would only make this worse!

I will contemplate a new setup through the good guys at Monster Performance but for now I'm looking to play with what I got and not spend to much time guessing!

Thanks and sorry for the long read!

Change the center shock spring to 180lb or higher Arctic Cat spring crank it up to close to where your current one is and you’ll get a lot better “pop” and ski lift . I changed my mtx to the 180 last year and made a lot of difference . You will transfer more on the trails so it’ll affect your trail handling

ok good info,

Will look into springs for the center shock in that weight range... I'm a heavier rider so I wonder if I should go little more spring....

Tanks for the info

I’m roughly your weight and the 180 makes a good difference but I’m glad I didn’t go to higher preload because In the snow she wouldn’t keep the skis down. With the 180
It’s like you can lean back and ride the rear bumper if you want or you can stand normal and she will carry the skis at the perfect height for being nimble

cool, I found that being a 4 stroke and having some extra weight up front... and engine braking you can make a lot of difference in the corners with just throttle... which is half the fun of the thing...

Def gonna get a 180 spring to try

i have a btx-le 2017 and it is the same, dealer just told me another guy came in complaining same thing with no transfer. mine max lift is 18 inches and needs to have good traction to do it. i find it kinda hard to handle in deeper snow because the front so heavy. was a yamaha demo from rep in southern alberta. be nice to know if thge rep played with the settings. im sure it was at yamafest.
