I have taken the sway bar off all of my sleds now, and want to take it off of my rx-1 as well. prob is, i can't see it. the only thing that kind of resembles it is a little bracket off of each a arm that looks to be like a sway bar going into the bulk head. like title says, no mockin me :moon: lol and, if any of you have taken sway bar off, how do you like the ride? thanx boyz. rj

The sway bar is a rod that extends laterally through a tube in the chassis right behind the a-arms. It is attached to the a-arms through links. Removing it changes the handling considerably. On the trail it rolls alot more in corners. In the mountains it sidehills easier, but it takes some time to get used to. It'll carve uphill much easier, but by the same token it'll roll downhill if you don't stay on top of it. It definitely makes the sled more manueverable, but the price you pay is in stability. You can't expect to ride "sitting down". No relaxing. Once you get used to it out you won't want to put it back in. Do a search....theres some other threads on this subject.

Kachess, thanx for the reply. I do know what the sway bar is, on the polaris it is alot more visible then the yamaha. from what your saying, it's fairly easy to remove as you just remove brackets? my 900 was fairly sloppy, but after tightening up the adjustor on the shock, it was an awesome ride. i'll give it a wack. thanx rj

Like Kachess said, there is 1 link per a-arm on the back side, remove, then pull out the rod and throw away. If you are not sure about handling, remove the link of the a-arm then try it. I took mine off before it every saw snow. But I was riding a 37" wide ZX Summit before, so I like tippy sleds, wide stance is not for me.

Yup, if you take it out you should spend a couple of bucks and get some heavy straight rate springs from P.P.

Then it will be better mannered for you.

Awe, c'mon. Can't we mock you just a little. I mean that sway bar isn't really that hard to find LaLaLa . All in good fun. Where the hell is all the :o| snow???

Ryan, I took mine out last year after getting the wife the 900 RMK
(riding two up without it was hairy) and like it. The sled is easier to pull over and like mentioned turning back up hill is alot easier. Taking tight corners is a little awkward with the extra body roll but it is managable if you lean in hard enough. I didn't do the straight rate springs as mentioned; instead I tightened the preload up so that there is about 1/2" of adjustment left before the springs are at full preload. This eliminated some of the body roll but RX-1 mtn owners that like the firm trail ride with the bar in don't like it. They do like how much better it is boondocking. I guess it's what ever you prefer.

red2003, i said no mocking.lol I'm going to guess that the rx-1 is going to handle exactly like my 900 did without the sway bar,and with that being the case, it's gonzo. Jim, i think i'm going to take your advice and tighten the preload, that's what i did on the 900 and it was awesome. thanx for all the advice you guys. rj
